Blues forward T.J. Oshie had an emergency apendectomy this morning and will be out of the lineup indefinitely, a source has told the Post-Dispatch.

Oshie went to the hospital Friday night, following the Blues’ 3-1 victory over Minnesota at Scottrade Center. He played 17 minutes, 33 seconds in the game.

The recovery time for the surgery varies from person to person. Blues goaltender Chris Mason had a similar surgery last season and missed approximately two weeks.

More on this story later.

Jeezus.
I had one of these when I was younger. I'm amazed that Oshie still played last night. I was in pain for days prior.

Did I miss something? When was Oshie on the cover of NHL10?

You've got to be kidding me.

Call up Eller and play him over Cam or King for 5 min a game.

I guess it could be worse, he could have a broken leg.

How many games do they have in the next 2 weeks? Probably about 6 or 7? Ample opportunity to call up Eller and give him a cup of tea, with him knowing he's going back no matter what, and helping him gauge what he needs to work on to compete at this level.

WTF why is everybody freaking out? He'll be back in 2 weeks, relax.

He might be back in 8-9 days, The recovery time varies from a few days to 2 weeks. Two weeks is the maximum. A goalie would generally take longer due to more need for stretching out the abdomen's muscles in doing splits and stretching out the legs in quick movements. I'd bet the average time out for a forward is closer to a few days above one week. Maybe he'll miss only 4 games.

I'm not freaking out about the surgery. I'm freaking out about the idea of having King and Cam BOTH in the line-up. Waste of 2 spots on a team that already is struggling to score. What do DJ and Cam have? The magic fukken touch? Soft hands? Scorers instinct?

Yeah, if we can't beat 'em, we'll bloody them to death.

For those hoping Murray would bring Eller up, - you know, deep down, that the long-term (1-2 week) replacement for Oshie will be Yan Stastny or Derek Armstrong. Eller will be up, later in the season, when 2 Top 2 line players are hurt, or after he's set The AHL on fire with astronomical point totals.

Murray isn't going to bring up Eller. He keeps playing that ancient stiff Sydor over Petro...who needs talent when you have age and a BURNING DESIRE TO KILL SPIDERMAN?

This team is 100% cursed.

Oh I know. I like to think I have kept the bi-polarism in check. But this was the last straw, even if fairly minor.

Failing hips, career ending eye injuries, golf carts, exploding appendices... Eric Brewer. Being a St. Louis Blues fan is awesome.

yep.
but (a long time ago) JD promised us...
speaking of which, how long ago was that front page of the post? I can't remember when, but i remember it clearly.
i dunno being a die-hard hockey fan is natural to us; we can't help its in our blood somehow. and since were (at least i'll speak for myself) from stl, we dont have a choice (and i still love it). hopefully someday we'll at least get back to being contendable...ahem...this year ::cross-fingers::
i just hope that all the hype in the beginning of the season by all those people that ignored the blues for the last two years dosn't turn into "well shit, what did you expect, they are the blues..."
which you know it will...
