My resolution with Dish Network

Post by Winning Unlimited »

I live in Boone County, outside of Columbia city limits. I bought my house in February. My only options for tv are dish network and directv.

Back in March, I ordered DirecTV. The installation company never showed after FOUR scheduled appointments, so I fired their asses and sent their shit back in the box it came in. So, I ordered Dish Network and had it installed, but had to sign a 2-year contract. At the time, Dish was showing all FSMW and CW11 games.

Then, the shit b/w Fox and Dish went down.

I called up Dish on October 15th, and 16th, after the first blackout. They were giving me their crappy blanket statement saying that FSMW is charging a premium price for these games. blah blah blah... and wouldn't give me anything due to the fine print on the contract saying that they can change programming at will.

I took Curt's advice and kept on calling, and calling. Tonight I called them up and said that in addition to not showing 35 Blues games this season, they had promised to give me free NHL Network and Center Ice in a previous conversation (which I lied about.) They put me on hold for 5 minutes to read notes on my account, and came back saying that there were no notes of this at all. I told them I would rather pay my $240 cancellation fee than pay $160 for NHL Network. They offer me 50% off NHL Network, so I took it to have some kind of resolution.

I really didn't want to cancel my service and miss 39 additional Blues games, but I felt I got something out of it. At least I get to watch the highlights of the game. If you guys can get free cancellation or free nhl network, power to you. I was tired of this bullshit and now feel like i have some sort of resolution.

Yeah, I was offered half off Center Ice with DirecTV the first time I called. I argued and argued with her (she was a complete bitch), and I asked to speak to a supervisor...she kind of laughed and said ok...which ticked me off.
The supervisor got on the phone and had an attitude right away and offered half off Center Ice. But I said that I wasn't going to cough up even more money for hockey, which I should already be getting under television lineup they had when I signed up. I demanded free Center Ice and he said he couldn't do that. When I said that I knew of others that had gotten it for free and that I wanted the same deal, he basically called me a liar and said nobody has gotten free Center Ice.
He was an F'ing douche.

So then I called back the next day and immediately said I wanted to talk to someone about cancelling my service. He asked how he could help me and I said, "Well, I'm a hockey fan...so I guess you know why I'm calling."
He then offered up free Center Ice right away without me even asking for it, and I took it.
He was a nice guy...he said he was a hockey fan...a Detroit fan no less.

I wish I had the name of the jackass I talked to the first time to call him back and tell him to go F himself. The douche lied to me...I just wanted to call him on it. Asshole.

Half off is still a good deal, even though it doesn't solve your lack of Blues games problem. But half off is half off. That's less than what they sell Center Ice for after the season is half over. Half off is worth it for the playoffs alone.

Congrats...and enjoy.

When you said the $160 for NHL Net did you mean Center Ice?

If you have to pay that much for the NHL Network, I'm really, REALLY glad I'm back to Charter now...(whom I hate.) I only have to pay $5/month for the sports tier that has it.

I had DISH Network for years, and until I had to call them about things, they were spectacular, then they were total idiots...and I hope to never deal with them again.

We were 3 weeks into our Dish contract when the whole FSN vs DISH thing surfaced. After 2 rounds of being on hold and yelling at Dish employees (a total of about 3 hours on the phone), we eventually got someone at the corporate office to let us out of our contract for free since it hadn't even been 30 days. We turned right around and got DirectTV. I have yet to see a prorated credit since I had to pay for the first 2 months up front, and we don't have our promised boxes to send the recievers back, but they said it might take upwards of 30 days to get that all figured out. I'm still prepared for a fight, but I am really glad I didn't sign up for anything until a week before hockey season started.

OK.

That makes more sense. Honestly, having NHL Network stopped me from getting CI the last couple years.

Mon/Tues/Wed/Sat national games? Since I'm back in school...don't have time to watch 15 games a week like I used to...

I do kind of miss getting a case of beer and just vegging out watching hockey on Saturdays...like the days where it starts at like 2pm...just booze and hockey till 1am....ahhh..memories.

So, the moral of the story is the first question you should ask the person is, "Are you a hockey fan?". If they answer with a no, hang up and call back until you get someone that likes hockey.
I love hockey. Period.

I was able to negotiate NHL Centerice for $23.80. I thought that was good, but free is really good!

That's low enough to where it's almost free.
Nice job.
