BLUES (16-14-5) at FLAMES (20-11-4)

Last 10: St. Louis 6-4-0; Calgary 4-5-1.

Season Series: This is the third of four meetings between the teams. The Flames earned a 2-1 overtime win in St. Louis on Nov. 5 before the Blues reclaimed their home-ice advantage with a 4-3 victory on Dec. 15.

Big Story: St. Louis has enjoyed nothing but success thus far on its four-game road trip, earning victories in Vancouver and Edmonton in the first two contests. The Blues will finish their trip on Saturday at Minnesota.

Team Scope:

Blues: Andy Murray's club is coming off an awfully impressive performance as it steamrolled the Oilers in a 7-2 win at Rexall Place on Monday night. Andy McDonald had a pair of goals in the Blues' second victory in as many nights. They earned a 3-1 win at Vancouver on Sunday.

Special teams played a huge role for St. Louis, as it converted four times with the man advantage despite entering the game with the League's 29th-ranked power play.

"It was nice to get some goals there," said forward Alexander Steen, who had a goal and three assists. "We've been struggling but working extremely hard to get that going. It was nice to see a few pucks go in."

Flames: Calgary began its four-game homestand in winning fashion last Thursday when it pulled out a 2-1 victory against the Los Angeles Kings. But the Flames suffered a setback two nights later when they blew a 3-2 lead en route to a 5-3 loss to the Nashville Predators.

"It was a game that we definitely feel we should have gotten two points out of," said captain Jarome Iginla, whose two second-period goals ended an eight-game drought. "We've got ourselves in a bit of a rut where in third periods we're not closing it out and finding ways to get points out of it and wins."

Who's Hot: Blues goalie Ty Conklin boasts a 2.27 goals-against average and possesses the third-highest save percentage (.931) in the League. … After going 19 games without a goal, Flames defenseman Dion Phaneuf has tallies in back-to-back contests.

Injury Report: Blues defenseman Eric Brewer (back) is practicing, but it is unknown when he will return to action. Left wing D.J. King is out with a broken hand. … Flames defenseman Cory Sarich is out indefinitely with an undisclosed injury.

Stat Pack: David Perron leads St. Louis with 10 goals, but has only three tallies in his last 19 games. … Calgary scored once in two opportunities on the man advantage against the Preds on Saturday and has converted in four consecutive games.

Puck Drop: "The last time we played them they had won four in a row and were determined to win their fifth in a row on the road. We ran into a hornet's nest and didn't really handle it very well. They deserved to beat us there. But here I felt our team was really ready to go. It was significant to beat them like this after that last game." -- Blues coach Andy Murray after Monday's 7-2 win at Edmonton

Why do I get the feeling we'll be treated to a return of the lackluster performances we've seen all year?

No three-game win streak for us.

Tonight will be a tough game. If we can come out of this road trip with 7/8 points I would be very happy. We can win on the road, now we just have to see what we can do at home. We have a rough home stretch to end the calendar year on.

Can we recognize Hull's Hall of Fame night again? (Not the jersey retirement, though)

In franchise history we have made te western Canadian road trip 27 times, we have never beaten all three of them. I was gonna say we were gonna win, but I'm not as confident now that I hear Brewers playing so..

Blues-3
Flames-5
