It's actually really simple. The Ducks forecheck just killed the Blues tonight. The Blues had a limited focus to open the 3rd period and that was about it. Both of Jackman's goals were fluky/decent shots on the rush. Blues didn't set up at all at almost any point tonight. No Tkachuk or Kariya obviously doesn't help but still.

Blues looked like they were playing the Canucks of last year in the playoffs again. Getting antsy, throwing the puck up the boards without looking, and throwing pucks to the middle of the ice (Jackman's turnover/ Ducks 3rd goal). That's what a good forecheck will do for you and the Ducks were doing it. And any time the Blues tried to apply forechecking pressure the Ducks maintained composure and passed right around it. Blues shouldn't have won this game and didn't.

Yay Blues.

The Blues have to have the worst record in the NHL when leading in the 3rd period. It seems they always have the lead in the 3rd, but blow it.

Sucks that Jackman was tripped up and interfered with, knee on knee, that led to the go-ahead goal. Horrible no call that directly led to a goal. But then again, Jackman tried to force a crappy pass right before that and turned the puck over...so...if he hadn't screwed up that pass, they don't score.

This team still desperately needs a go-to goal scorer. It's been this way for years now. It will have to be addressed sooner or later.

I like how Panger was complimenting the Blues on passing the puck back to the defense during a line change rather than dumping it in and losing possession, but when Murray was here and telling the team to do it, he wouldn't complain about it.

From what I remember on the replay, Jackman gets rid of the puck cleanly and about two seconds later gets hit. He felt the hit coming and made a sh(t pass. Totally on him.

I think it's probably time to admit that this team is a lost cause. Jd and company took a HUGE step backwards this year.

Really?

I thought we skated pretty hard. (which really surprised me since it was back to back games)

I thought the difference was that we didn’t catch the Ducks sleeping. They were ready to play too, unlike the Sharks.

I thought the difference in game was the weak goal Mason gave up to tie the game.

The thing that scares the hell out of me is our complete lack of scoring. Where are our ‘go to scorers’ ?
All we could muster is two goals (one quite flukie) from a defenseman that hadn’t scored since March of last year.

We’ve got to get our forwards putting the puck in the back of the net (yes I know Andy Mac had scored in 4 straight heading into last night)

Or scoring ANY goals. This is the most offensively inept team I've ever watched.

Both goals last night were lucky ones.
