Blues Assign Armstrong to Peoria
Friday, 01.15.2010 / 11:03 AM / News St. Louis Blues

ST. LOUIS – St. Louis Blues President John Davidson announced Friday the club has assigned forward Derek Armstrong to the Blues’ American Hockey League affiliate, the Peoria Rivermen.

Armstrong, 36, has played in five games with the Blues this season recording two penalty minutes. He has played in 16 games this season with Peoria, registering 11 points (six goals, five assists) along with six penalty minutes.

Armstrong played in 56 games with the Los Angeles Kings last season, recording nine points (five goals, four assists) and 63 penalty minutes. The 6-0, 197-pound center has played in 476 NHL games, amassing 221 points (72 goals, 149 assists) and 355 penalty minutes.

The Ottawa, Ontario native was originally drafted by the New York Islanders in the sixth round, 128th overall in the 1992 Entry Draft.

They also activated King and sent him to Peoria for conditioning.

Can't wait for the return of the King Kong. Finally get someone on this team that can scare the (frank) out of people and actually throw haymakers that land.

To disagree, one doesn't have to be disagreeable.

Can this finally mean Cam will be gone?

Maybe we can dupe some moron GM into trading a serviceable #3 or 4 d-man for him, straight up.

Oh wait...

Maybe absence makes the heart grow fonder, but I would have considered Salvador a #1 or 2 on this current team.

They should have never let go of Salvador and McKee. We'd have a decent defense right now.

The defense isn't what worries me. I actually like the play of our defense under Payne, it's the offense that worries me still. We need more consistent scoring on this team and we lack a true shooter since Boyes seems to have forgotten how to find the net. We need 2-3 guys who can find the net if we are going to make a run and we just don't seem to have even one guy right now. If Backes, Oshie, Boyes, Kariya, McDonald, Berglund, Perron, etc can start finding the net like they are capable of doing then we'll be fine. Defense and goaltending are the least of my concerns right now.
