Well, well. Per JR's main story and Morning Skate, the Blues made a serious run at Gaborik this past offseason.

Interesting.

I didn't realize the Blues were looking to spend that kind of money for UFA this past summer.

If they intended to do it once before, they should intend to try again, this time with Kovalchuk. No excuses not to get a proven goal scorer on this team ASAP.

After tonight, there is a possibility that we're only 6 points out of the 8 seed. The situation looks like hell, but last time I checked, the situation was far more dire last season, having to leap over everyone to land the 6.

If I'm Pleau, I'm on the horn putting together a package. I hate to say this, because I believe strongly that he could be a helluva critical addition to the team if they ever got it through their heads that some O from the blueline would help a lot, but I'd be putting together a Junland, Berglund, Boyes and a pick for Kovy package (to start, they'll probably want another D or G prospect tossed in as well). To cover the empty NHL roster spot, recall Eller.

As much as I want a superstar on this team, I think we need to try and get it through free agency than trading away prospects. This team is capable of making the play offs the way t is without geting rid of prospects for something we could get through free agency.

Which one? Gaborik and his 54 points points in 46 games or Kovalchuk and his 53 points in 41 games?

Gaborik would have withered and quit under the prior regime. No way he would have had 54 points all year much less season-to-date.

Also with his wonky vejayjay it's unlikely we would have gotten value out of him for the duration of his contract.

NO YOU DI'INT!!

OVER THE OFFSEASON, YOU GOT MEE!!

It was by far the best addition any team had done in the offseason. Forget the scoring, replacing the tard in the booth was the best thing you could've done. You can't have a world class shot until you get a world class color commentary.

You peeps need to be thankful for what you got!

We're on a 4 game winning streak. This team can win. Why add an overpaid pansy? We already have Boyes and Kariya.

The only way we should spend a lot is for a guy who can score AND be a physical presence.
