So what is the best case scenario for this game?
-The Blues could (theoretically) win, which could cause management to try to hold on to some of our more expensive UFAs (Kariya et al), thinking we have the talent for a push to the last playoff spot.
-The Blues could lose in spectacular fashion, leading management to sell off the majority of the aforementioned UFAs for the best available return, preparing for next season.
-Or, the Blues could lose in OT, which could lead to some trades, but potentially very few.
I hate rooting against the Blues, but it seems to me like an epic fail against the Caps will posture us for the best possible team next season. On the other hand, I also hate to fall into the "next season, next season" ethos.
