I've just got a live scoreboard open. What happened?

With seconds winding down in the 2nd, Hiller made a save but it popped up in the air, he swatted at it and it bounced over him and in the net. But it was right as time expires. Replay showed that puck was ON the goal line at 0.1, but didn't cross until after the clock hit 0.0.

The US finally score and then something deflating happens like that. I'm even more nervous about the 3rd period now.

Based on his comments made during the Canada/USA game, you'd think Ed Olczyk wasn't a USA fan...but he was born in Illinois, so I assume he's pro-USA...? I dunno. Olczyk was unusually giddy with excitement after the replay showed Shea Weber's shot went through the net and would count as a goal, before it was announced, against the Germans last night...so one would think he was pulling for Canada.

That no-goal hurt. A lead going into the 3rd period would have been big.

Now, a lucky bounce can easily win the game for either team.

That's what I've been worried about. US has been shooting like crazy, but if the Swiss get just 1 shot to go in, the pressure blows through the roof. And that pro-Canadian crowd is going to be ALL over the US if that happens.

I'll let Optimegus explain it (From Flashchat)

[OPTIMEGUS] 3:49 pm: Okay, Switzerland hits the post, the puck is literally shot across the goal line,
but stays out. The US, on the same play, shoots the puck.
[OPTIMEGUS] 3:49 pm: They score, but there is a penalty after the shot is released
[OPTIMEGUS] 3:50 pm: Suter rips the helmet off of a D-man in front of the net
[OPTIMEGUS] 3:50 pm: so Switz on the PK, USA up 1-0
[OPTIMEGUS] 3:50 pm: errr Switz on PP, USA PK

Thanks. I can't do flashchat because I'm trying to work too (and check the score every 5 min)

good summary,
but what would have happened if Swiss actually scored but it wasn't called immediately, then US scored on the same play. It was almost this play. Would the Swiss goal counted and just reset the clock back to when it went in?

I was in for a bit, but I'm at work too, so too many things going on. Plus it made my feed on NBC.com look like crap.

Stay classy, Canadian fans. I hope Russia works you.

And there's the ENG. Look familiar, Canucks?

So now on to face the winner of Czech Republic-Finland on Friday? We're in position to play for a medal no matter what. Keep it going, fellas. Been quite a ride so far.
