TORONTO - St. Louis Blues forward Cam Janssen has been suspended for five games, without pay, as a result of a late hit to the head delivered to Washington Capitals winger Matt Bradley.
Under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement, and based on his average annual salary, Janssen will forfeit $14,248.70. The money goes to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund.
Janssen, 25, has zero points and 163 penalty minutes in 38 games this season.
Janssen will miss games at Phoenix on Mar. 2, at Dallas on Mar. 4, at Colorado on Mar. 6; at New York Islanders on Mar. 11 and at Columbus on Mar. 13. He will be eligible to return on Mar. 14 at Minnesota.
