Biggest game of the season.

We trail Dallas by one point in the standings.

A win tonight and we jump from 12th to a tie for 9th and pull to within one point of 8th place Detroit.

These are the games the Blues have to win.

Go Blues. :letsgoblues:

This game is critical for the mindset of the players the rest of the way to the end of the season.

Win = the players taste the blood in the waters and realize they're contending for that 8th spot. :letsgoblues:

Loss = some players will start mailing it in the rest of the way, and the downhill slide begins

OTL = oh so typical of Blues hockey

Gotta disagree with this. Not to take away from the importance of a win tonight, but the biggest game of the season, well, there were 2. And we won both those Sweden games.

That said, Blues win 5 in a row.

3-1 Blues, with Perron having a big night, 2 points.

We keep scoring 4+ a night, we keep winning.

I don't think it's the biggest game of the season, by any stretch, but it's totally points we need.

Stars 5
Blues 2

Uh...no. I disagree.
The first two games of the season don't mean much at all. Just because they were in Sweden that doesn't mean anything other than the audience is bigger.
Tonight's game gets us closer to 8th place than we have been in months.
And if we're still in the race, most of the games down the stretch will be the "biggest game of the season" when we play them.

I agree with Curt---biggest game of the season. Really, as long as the Blues are within distance of the 8th spot, every game on out is the biggest game of the season. But this one is huge. My hope is that D'Agostini (gotta come up with a nickname, 'cause I'm not typing that out every time) has a big impact in the game tonight. Doesn't have to be scoring goals....just making plays and getting chances.

If we lost those games against Detroit, 8th place would be 73 points, and we're 10 points back! I'm sure the mindset has always been for the Blues that they would be in the hunt at the end of the season and every game matters.

Oh well, F it! Go Blues and win one anyway!!

2 points in October are worth just as much as 2 points in March. If we had lost those first two games then we would be basically out of the playoff picture right now.

For a bubble team like the Blues, every single game is of a vast importance. All year long.

Blues will have to be mindful of the infractions against tonight. Stay out of the box and I like our chances.

Two wins in Sweden against the Wings? Sure, they were big. But how about the gigantic number of losses when third period leads were squandered and we either A) gave a possible playoff team an extra point by beating them in OT or B) losing the 2nd point by falling in OT?

Had we won even half of those by holding onto the 3rd period lead, we'd be firmly planted in the top 8.

Blues 6
Stars 0

Oshie finally gets done with his coke withdrawal (the haircut was clearly part of going clean) and scores 4, EJ straight up murders 3 Dallas forwards on completely routine, clean plays.

As long as we go into the third with a lead except by 3 goals then we win. You heard it here first.

Just win. Nothing else that's already happened matters.

Did you just stop reading my post halfway through or something?

Every game is of equal importance... EXCEPT for games that also deny competitors from getting points... which this game is... and the first two Sweden games were as well.

This.

And based on the way we've played of late, I think if we can score two or more goals and hold the Stars to only one goal, we have a pretty good chance at picking up two points tonight.

The key to tonight's game will be to score more goals then the Stars.

I understand that all games are important, especially divisional games and all games are worth 2 points and all of that jazz.
But right now, the intensity is ramped up, the pressure is increased and the realization of what is at stake makes this game the most important game so far this year.

We had no idea where this team was going to finish after those first two games in Sweden because there were so many games left. There was time to make up for bad games or go on long winning streaks, etc...but with only 19 games left, time is running out. They had a crappy first half and have to make up for it in a short amount of time. We have an idea where this team can finish and what they have to do to get there. Combine that with where we currently are in the standings in relationship to the teams around us, how we've been playing lately and who we are playing tonight and that directly defines how important this game is tonight.
