The How Many Pts We Out Thread

With Calgary's win over Detroit tonight, that puts Calgary in 8th and Detroit in 9th.

We sit 6 pts. out with a game in hand.

Certainly not insurmountable by any means, but a pain in the ass to say the least. It sucks to win 5 straight and get to within one point of 8th place, then lose one game and have a few days off and now we're 6 pts. out.

Not much room for error now.

17 games in the next 31 days with 4 back 2 backs. No room for error or losses.

Gee... what a surprise - 4 back-to-backs after way too many 5 day breaks this season. Calgary's schedule is almost as brutal as the Blues.

17 games in 31 days? :aaaa:

Its like the NHL has finished practicing screwing mice over in science labs and get to do it for real on us.

I think the NHL is trying out the AHL's schedule. Next season we will playing 3 games back-to-back and then another back to back game.

By the way, I like the title of this thread.

I recommend that from here on out, every post in this thread should start with "How many points we out?" and then go on to say whatever.

How many pts we out, dog?

too many.

Games in hand are only worth something when you win them.

At least Minny and Detroit didn't go into overtime. Regulation losses for other teams are the Blues' best friend right now.

this is the time that when all those wins they should have gotten, will bite them in the ass.
and it's their own damn faults. This team has played some pitiful hockey this year.

They've won 6 of 7, but still 6 pts. out after Detroit and Calgary both won.

The good news is that Nashville is falling in the standings. They've lost 3 of 4 and only beat Atlanta 2-1. We're 6 pts. behind both Calgary and Nashville and five points behind Detroit.
The more games we win, we not only increase our chances of grabbing 8th place, but we creep closer to the 7th place team (Nashville).
We have three games left vs. Nashville and one left vs. Detroit.

Just keep winning and they'll be fine...but that's a tall order.
The next two are games we should win...and have to win... Columbus, @ Minnesota.
Then, 7 of the next 9 are against pretty good teams. Colorado, @ NYR, @ New Jersey, Nashville, @ Detroit, LA, Edmonton, Chicago, @ Nashville

Yikes.

If the Blues get in the playoffs, they will have earned it...no doubt.

I hope we keep blowing goats during the first half every season. How much fun would it really be to get an early playoff berth anyway?

They could've earned it by not playing like asshats; douchebags; pucktards; or whatever name you prefer to call idiots, when playing home games during the first 2/3rds of the season.

Maybe not very exciting, but certainly less stressful on the old tickers.

I'd love to see us wrap up the Central on March 11th, unfortunately, we don't play in the weaker conference with a pitiful division anymore

Now 5 pts out behind teh Dead Things. :detsucks:

Interesting point: NHL.com has now posted a +/- thing for Goals Against/Goals For for teams, and good thing to note- the Blues are even now after tonight and the Starts (close in the standings) are a -25. Good news if it REALLY comes down to the wire. Minnesota, also close, has less of a gap with -11.

This Calgary - Detroit 8th place leapfrog every other night is bullshit. We're going on a tear and we only seem to gain 1 pt., if that, because these asshats keep winning and flip flopping in the standings.

Somebody beat these F'ing teams for christ's sake.

See Curt, that would imply "help" from other teams, and if I remember correctly, the Blues don't need any help, right?
