Sign him now. He's quickly becoming one of my favorite Blues. Its easy to see why he was a 1st round pick, not as easy to see why it took him so long to realize his potential. My guess is that getting out of the pressure cooker that is Toronto has a lot to do with it. Either way...The Steen Engine should be on this team next year.

Great shot on the point for the PP. Solid player, tough along the boards, plays a good defensively. A solid 20-30 goal scorer.

To disagree, one doesn't have to be disagreeable.

He's also only 3 pts shy of being the #2 point producer on this team. Not half bad.

Keep him.

I think he should stay. We have the money, and this is the best season he's ever had. I don't think he's reached his peak, either.

You guys get to watch way more Blues hockey than I do, but I'm not so taken with him that I would drop a huge multi-year contract. Yes, he's scored 19 goals this year. Great. He scored 8 last year. What's the norm and what's the exception? Is he a 20-goal guy from here on out? Or is this another Boyes/Backes scenario where the individual in question has a career year, then is expected to maintain that level of performance year after year? Seems like we're constantly saying "Man, THAT guy sure isn't living up to that multi-year contract of his."

I say he's a 20-goal guy. But not only that, unlike Boyes, he plays good hockey and won't hurt you defensively.

Not sure how much I'd give the guy, but a good team needs a player like him to complete the roster.

He's one of those guys that you have to have on a successful team. He can play the point on the PP, he plays well in his own zone and he is a great depth guy.
We need more Steen's and less Winchesters.

I think he has been a (Franking) godsend this season. He, Oshie, Perron, and recently Berglund are the reasons I still watch.

Steen is a well-rounded young forward who is very versatile, and still has an upside. He'll be a 65 point player in his peak years, and is worth a LOT more than Boyes when they both score 65 points. He NEEDS to be re-signed.

Methinks both.

I hope neither.

The team wants Pie up here and they are going to let CC walk to make room, but dude was getting walked around by 17 and 18 year old kids. Unless they are moving him up to forward, no chance. If....and there is no way this happens...but if they manage to unload Brewer or Jackman, then you may be able to let him ‘learn’ as a rotating number 6. But you’ll have to get rid of one of the other two aforementioned turnover machines first.

Lars looked completely lost in his short stint up here and this team desperately needs to fill the few opening there are going to have at the front end of the roster, not the back end. This team is chalk fill of role players and 'the kid of guys you've got to have on a team', we need to add top end talent in the two or three spots that may open. If you resign Steen, that really only leaves Paulie's and Winchester's spots open ( you figure they bring Cam or DK back). I figure Walt comes back one more year.

Petro I disagree. Admittedly, I haven't seen him play as much as I would like but "walked around" is pretty harsh. Hockey News just wrote a hugely complementary article on him ranking him as their #1 prospect still not having done the requisite 25 NHL games needed to get out of rookie status.

Eller- Again, "lost" is harsh. I saw the entirety of the first game he played and pieces of the others and whatever else you want to say about him, the kid is skilled. He's got the raw abilities to hang onto the puck along the boards and make some decent passes and positioning. Personally, I was impressed. That feeling was not universal I take it. He's got a bright future I think. Maybe one more AHL season is in store for him.
