Also, on Friday, he's gotta be the de-facto first star, right? It's only fair.

Hell, put him in goal. He'll be out there the entire game and he can't be worse then Mason.

Walt's pims are what puts him over those other guys in your list of non HoF guys. He was a power forward, and he's got the pims to prove it.

Some of them not so honest. I remember when we first got him and he used to slash players up high with his stick & then wouldn't drop 'em.not_a_wings_fan wrote:Walt's pims are what puts him over those other guys in your list of non HoF guys. Re: Tkachuk Officially Announces Retirement
Modano may be calling it a career too. He's won one cup, and been to the finals 3 times (91, 99, 00)
Maybe Recchi, Roenick, Peca, Selanne, and Niedermeyer too. Brodeur is the only goalie playing today that could retire right now and get in.
I figure Recchi, Modano, and Selanne are first ballot forwards in this group. If it comes down to Roenick/Tkachuk, then JR gets in. He has about 150 more games/points than KT. Of course, anyone who missed from previous seasons could be voted in too. However, only 4 spots are allowed.

Tkachuk gets in before Recchi or Peca.
Peca's not going to the hall. No way. Recchi is also iffy.

I agree with you. I remember him blowing out a guys knee (against nashville maybe?) in a meaningless late season game when he left his leg out on a check into the halfboards and turned the guy's skate - totally a cheapshot imo.stlbluz wrote:Some of them not so honest. I also seem to recall him being black and blue up and down both sides of his ribs from being repeatedly cross checked while standing in front of the goal on the powerplay in the playoffs - pre lockout, when you had to have a man sized pair to stand there.

Modano, Recchi, Sellanne, and Niedermayer are surefire hall o' famers.
It may take a few tries, but I think Walt should get in.

Re: Tkachuk Officially Announces Retirement
Tkachuk is what...2nd all time in points for a U.S. born player?
That alone gets him in.
But damn...how does Ciccarelli not get in with over 600 goals? I'm not complaining though...I never liked the guy.

The Tkachuk and Foote battles in front of the net were pretty damn good before the crack down on the rules.not_a_wings_fan wrote:I agree with you. Everyone knows Keith Tkachuk. Scored a lot of goals and did a lot for the teams he played for. Played for Winnipeg, Phoenix, and STL (Atlanta doesn't count)...
Hall of Fame worthy, definitely.
If Atlanta doesn't count than Phoenix doesn't either, since you already said Winnipeg...

You're right on Peca. However, if you tried to find the player listed 13 among all time points leaders in NHL history, you'd find Recchi's name. 1500 points gets you into the Hall.kodos wrote:Tkachuk gets in before Recchi or Peca.

Although, Oates is 16 and Gilmour is 17th. Neither made it in.

By the way, I think Shanahan, Federov, Jagr, and Sundin are up for election soon, too. So a lot of good players won't be getting in.

There is a US Hockey Hall-of-Fame. And I know Housley, Modano, and Roenick have more points than KT.cprice12 wrote:Tkachuk is what...2nd all time in points for a U.S. born player?
