Allrighty...a link to the form for the 4th and final round of the Playoff Challenge is up on the home page.

Picks must be submitted by Saturday, May 29th...7pm Central time (this is the start of the finals)

In the event of a tie, a winner will be determined by:
1) Total goals scored in the finals
...if still tied...
2) Most correct combos (correctly guessing a series winner AND the number of games)
...if still tied...
3) Most total points in round one
...if still tied...
4) Coin toss.

Edit: Forgot to mention that if you guess exactly the total goals scored in the finals, you will receive 4 bonus points (same as last year)...so that's a total of 7 possible points for the final round.

There needs to be scenarios where participants can lose points. Otherwise, everyone who's clearly out of it early on will stop participating. I have no shot, therefore I have no motivation to continue other than I feel like making a pick and seeing where I go with it.

For next year I suggest loss of 2 points for picking the wrong team and -1 point for each game in the series you were off.

i.e. Blues play the Rangers in the cup finals, the pick is Rangers in 7, Blues actually win in 4. -2 for picking the Rags and -3 for being 3 games off in the series = a -5 overall.

Hmm...I like the idea of losing points in some way. We'll have to think about this.

Weight the rounds so that picking a winner in round 1 is 2 points, round 2 is 4 points, round 3 is 8 points, round 4 is 16 points. So, if you get the champs right, you can make up a lot of ground for missed opportunities in rounds 1-2.

I had Chicago winning in 6, but was off on the goals scored...I'll get them up in a minute.

Gaijin and myself ended up tying for first, so it came down to a tiebreaker.

The first tiebreaker was goals scored in the finals. Gaijin guessed 34...I had guessed 32.
The actual number of goals scored in the finals was 47, so Gaijin was closer and is the 2010 LGB Playoff Pickem' Challenge winner!

Congratulations Gaijin!

I'll have your winning trophy signature made shortly and I'll put it in your sig.

Sigh...I failed to repeat as champion...so close. Maybe next year.
