Simon Gagne

He was asked to waive his NTC. Throw in Brewer and a pick or mid level prospect. I would welcome that deal.

I wouldn't just welcome that deal, I would cook it dinner, watch some interracial porn with it, and depending on how the night went, I may even penetrate it. But I don't think the Flyers would be so hospitable. It just doesn't make sense from their perspective. They'd only save 1 mil. in cap space, six of their Dmen would be making more than 3 mil., and I believe Brewer is signed thru an additional season. Plus Brewer blows and Gagne doesn't.

A more appealing trade for Philly would be Perron for Gagne straight up. Anybody here make that trade?

BTW is that R under your name from a Volvo?

Perron for Gagne straight up?... hmmm...

No. Perron has St. Louis recognition, and Gagne has health problems. Good thought, but I stay with Perron now. But, I'm one of those people that appreciate Perron more than Oshie.

Personally I wouldn't trade Perron, because he's just too young and has too much talent to give up. He could easily reach Gagne's level in one or two seasons, IMO.

And yup, that's a Volvo 850 R emblem. :)

Perron for Gagne is kind of a sideways step. We need to add a top 6 fwd, not trade one for one.

Gagne had 9 goals in 19 games during the recent playoffs and has averaged .47 goals per game since the lockout. That's elite production whereas Perron hasn't shown anything near that yet. Gagne also missed over a seasons worth of games in that time. He just turned 30 in February and is a UFA after the season. I would probably make the trade if we could extend his contract for 4 yrs $20 mil or so.

No way they trade him for a defensman, especially Brewer. They're already have $21 million going towards 6 defenseman, I doubt they are looking to add Brewer. Hopefully, they are in on Kovalchuk and are looking to dump salary quick and will give him to us cheap, for a pick or two and/or a prospect.

Noway would I trade Perron in this deal. Something tells me that he will have a breakout season this year.

Starting the year with a coach that won't constantly demote him to the third and fourth line will definitely help.

I agree -- no franking way we should trade Perron.

Plus, I believe Gagne is a UFA after this season.

Like Leedog said, any acquisition we make for Gagne better not include a top 6 forward because that's not helping.

I would be wholeheartedly open to a deal involving the right combination of picks/prospects for him, but that's about it as they obviously have no need for defensemen.

Doesn't sound like they're trying to move him for a goalie, so that means they're trying to move him for a forward, and we all know who that forward would be. If you believe Eklund and his (e) ratings, hes talking about a three way trade between, Philly, Boston, and LA (e3).. Who the hell knows? Guess we will find out in a couple of days/weeks.

I read that The Flyers don't want to take ANY salary back. They just want draft choices (probably at least one #1). But. as everyone knows they are in no position to bargain, maybe all it will take is a #2, and a #3 or4?

I would look to move almost anybody else over Perron. I realize he's probably one of the more valuable assets we have but umm...don't you usually want to keep those guys? I realize you would be bringing in Gagne in this scenario but I would like to see them get a little more creative with this trade, especially with Philly being the team who's trying to get rid of a player.

Low ball those chumps!

Yes, let them do a pick 2 from: (Brewer, Jackman, Janssen, Winchester, Used Puck Bag).

By the way, in the preceding post, Used Puck Bag does indeed have the highest +/-.

You hardly even notice Used Puck Bag on the ice most of the time, but sometimes that's a good thing. Used Puck Bag never does anything flashy but he plays the game the right way consistently. You need one or two Used Puck Bag's on your team in order to be successful. Philly should be so lucky that we'd even consider offering Used Puck Bag.
