Mike Kitchen has been hired as assistant coach by the Blackhawks.

Apparently there were no hard feelings about Kitchen succeeding Quenneville as Blues coach.

But Kitchen will never be able to live down Brett Hull Night.

Honestly, I didn't think Kitchen was that horrible of an ASSISTANT coach (I say as I run away from LGB members carrying pitchforks and torches).

I agree, he just appeared a bit 'over his head' as head coach.

That may very well be the case...but after what he did here as a head coach, he's a failure in my mind.

Who here remembers that Kitchen not only got a free pass after the horrific 2005-06 season, but a two year contract extension, that lasted for about 1/3 of the next season?

That pretty common place for this organization though.

We have to raise ticket prices, watch payroll and charge $10 for a beer because we're overpaying defensemen and constantly paying guys NOT to coach for us.

Too lazy to look it up but IIRC we needed 6-7 wins out of the last 10 games that season to make the playoffs.
