What gives?

Of all the forwards still left out there, he's about the only one who had a great end of the season run, and/or isn't old and out of his prime.

I dont see why we don't make him an offer. I thought he was a very good fit for the blues when he was here.

Word is the remaining FA forwards are waiting for Kolvachuck to sign. Then the teams that missed out start bidding for guys like Lee and Frolov.

Well we know we are already not in the running for Kovy. Just wish the blues would look to improve the team this year.

I think we too are waiting to see what the market will be for these guys, but if say LA misses out of Kovy and decide to offer Lee 4 mill a year......I don't think we're interested.

If they don't go out and get one of 'these' guys, I'd like to see them at least look at an incentive laden deal with Demetria or SOMEONE with a possible scoring touch.

He's headed to the KHL.

I'm not sure I understand all of the resistance to attempting to sign Lee. It can't be because he wants a lot of money because nobody knows what kind of money he wants. Ideal? Hell no. But if reasonable, gotta be better than going into the season with the scoring we have currently.

The Blues could very well have offers on the table to Stempy, Frolov and others, but those guys aren't doing anything until Kovy signs and sets the market.
And those players will be worth more to the team that loses out on Kovy after he signs somewhere.

Does any one else here just hate it when a poster makes perfect sense with a response?? Yep 12, you make absolute sense. Kovy has everything at a stand still. Those damn Commies! But I still wonder why so many have the hate for bringing Stempy back at a decent price? Any thoughts?

Look, I'm going away for 5 days. When I get back, I expect to look at the Blues roster and see Stempniak and Parise's names both on it, and I expect to see Kovalchuks name on someones frikken roster.

Do it, Army!

Do you expect to see Perron's name?

No, I get the feeling that the only reason he's still on the roster right now is because none of the other clubs like hi enough to give us 'equal' trade.

Strickland and Rutherford have both made mention that DP is 'butting heads' with yet another coaching staff and just reading between the lines, I don't believe he's long for this roster.

The problem is no matter what you think of him or his attitude, a team light on scoring prowess can't simply jettison a 20 goals scorer (especially one that may be capable of even more).

My hope is that they aren't able to move him and he goes out and has a monster season forcing them to get him a long term deal.

Of course, I'm also hoping they lower beer prices, so take it for what it's worth.

Thanks DaDitka for that bit of info on Perron. I had not read that before and wondered why he is always mentioned in any potential trade. Now I know and I hope the same as you....they don't get it done and he has a sick sick year wearing the Note!

From what I've seen, most Blues fans would welcome him back at a good price...but I doubt we'll get a "good price" on Stempy. If he was willing to sign at a "good price", he would have signed somewhere already.

I have said this before, and while I am pretty aggravated with the Blues current stance on scoring, and was a fan of the Lee-gion, I don't know if there is a place for him on the Blues.

He seems to struggle to put up goals if he is not given top minutes, and I question whether he could put up enough goals on a third line to justify his likely salary range.

Who do kick out of the "top 6" to fit him in? Is there someone else, outside of Oshie, that would be effective on 3rd and 4th line duties? Some of the current top 6 have the same issues as Stempniak, they need other top 6 talent to play with to actually score. Backes and Oshie can do other things, but their production probably goes down if you push them down to other lines.

Trust me, I was a big fan of Stempniak. I was his sponsor here for quite awhile, and I was guy that took Jeffro's "Lee-gion" phrase and got it turned into an going Blues' locker room joke. But I just don't see a place from him in St. Louis.

I would love to be proved wrong, but I just don't think he would work here on the third line.

Every line, is the third line.
