Veteran forward Paul Kariya will miss the next NHL season after being diagnosed with post-concussion syndrome.
Kariya announced the decision through a release from his agent Friday.
The 35 year old is a free agent after spending the last three seasons with St. Louis.
Kariya scored 18 goals and added 25 assists with the Blues last season.
Kariya missed six games last December and January after sustaining a concussion. He also missed playing for Canada 1998 Winter Olympics because of a concussion.
The two-time Lady Byng Trophy winner has 402 goals and 587 assists in a 15-year career with Anaheim, Colorado, Nashville and St. Louis.

I heard another term for post-concussion syndrome recently. "No-one-will-sign-me-so-I'll-make-up-an-excuse-until-I-get-an-offer syndrome."

What's a Stanley Cup Final and how do you get there?
Its this thing at the end of the regular season, if your club is one of the top 8 teams in your conference you make what is called the 'Playoffs.' Then if you beat 3 other team from your same conference you go to what is called the 'Stanley Cup Final' to versus the winner of the other conference in a best of 7 games series to win the Stanley Cup.
