Just got this press release:
Friday, Oct. 15, 2010 Update

No Dish For Saturday’s Mizzou and Blues Games
Dish Still Not Offering FOX Sports Midwest
Negotiations Have Stalled; Agreement Not Expected

Oct. 15 Update: Dish Network customers will miss Saturday’s Mizzou football game at Texas A&M and the Blues hockey game at Dallas. The games will be televised on Fox Sports Midwest, but will not be available to Dish customers because Dish dropped Fox’s 19 regional sports networks on Oct. 1. [Note: Missouri-Texas A&M kicks off at 11 a.m., with the pregame show at 10:30. The Stars moved the start time of the Blues game to 7:30 p.m., with pregame coverage starting at 7.]

“The two sides are not actively negotiating and remain at an impasse,” said FOX Sports Midwest spokesman Geoff Goldman.

On Nov. 1, Dish customers may also lose FOX 2 KTVI in St. Louis and FOX 4 WDAF in Kansas City if a new agreement is not reached.

Fortunately, the Mizzou and Blues games and FOX Sports Midwest are offered by a number of other local distributors. For more information, viewers should call 1-877-99-I-PAID or visit www.getwhatipaidfor.com.
I feel for your Dishnetwork folks.

I just switched yesterday. I'd have been PISSED if they reached an agreement that soon.

I am so glad we were about to yell our way out of our Dish contract last year. We had Dish for less than 3 weeks when this issue first surfaced (I waited to sign up for satellite until hockey season). I missed 2 games I think and went totally belligerent on the Dish people before they let us break our contract on the grounds that we had a 30 day trial before we were committed. In reality, no clause actually existed, but it worked and it never got ugly even though I had to ship equipment back and they had my credit card number. We have had Directv since the incident, and while I'd rather have Dish (for a couple of small reasons), I'd much rather have hockey and baseball (which is my only real reason for paying for tv service). I feel bad for the people who have no hockey, no cards baseball, and are about to have no Simpsons, Family Guy, Superbowl, and will miss out on some baseball playoffs too.

This is cute, tongue-in-cheek. Both the video and posted letter. Best of all, it's topped by an action plan that should be successful.

Why?
DirecTV is better than Dish anyway. Not only are you getting hockey, but you're getting a better overall product.

Great idea...unfortunately, our team is actively advertising a product that refuses to show their games. Call me when that makes sense.

I agree it's pretty retarded, but I'm sure they're contractually obligated to do so. Money's already changed hands and they probably don't want to void the current contract (money in hand) and expend the effort to find alternative advertising (which is what they SHOULD do.)
