There's a reason why he's called the "backup goalie", but that said, it's hard to see Halak playing as few games as they're talking about when Conklin is so average.

Blues flat out dominated for most of this game and I think they hit four posts as well. Lehtonen saved their ass.
Blues deserved two points tonight. They owned Dallas in their own building. The Stars were just opportunistic. The Blues win this type of game 9 out of 10 times.

You gotta like the way this team is playing. I don't really have much to complain about except for the Blues play in OT. They just dumped the puck out and turned it over way too many times. Dallas owned much of OT because of that.

Conklin played very well. Made a few big saves late in the game and in OT and his glove save on Ribeiro was sick. He looked bad as he was back in the net and down on Dallas' 2nd goal...and on their 2nd shootout goal he failed to glove the puck as it was pinballing around and eventually went in...bad break.

The interference call on Oshie on the Blues 5 on 3 was horse shit. Total dive.

I still say there needs to be five shooters in the shootout. Sometimes three seems like it's over too quick after 65 minutes of hockey.

If we play like this ever night, we'll win the friggin' conference. It's odd...I don't feel like we lost that game.

Yes. We're stuck with the shootout (unfortunately) but that would be great. I think you'd have less fluke shootout wins and like you said, it's over too quick. Some shootouts are done in 2 rounds. It would reward teams with deeper offensive talent that they could roll out a lineup of 5 shooters that could trump the opposing team if they have less depth.

I think it's just great that we brought back last year's Blues for the last part of the second period through the end of the game. Well done, someone.

How so?
Blues dominated this game...especially in the 3rd. Lehtonen stood on his head...just one of those games.
Now...if this kind of thing happens a lot, then it's a problem. But we won't lose many of these types of games.

What the (Frank) are you talking about? That game was fun as hell to watch. We had SO MANY great chances that either hit the post or were miraculously pulled out by Lehtonen. If Conklin doesn't give up that soft goal first goal, we win the game.

Hopefully this pace and energy can be sustained.

The most important thing is that both Berglund and Boyes are playing hard and feeling confident out there. Love the fact that Boyes has been getting back and breaking up plays.

It's hard to play any better than that and still take the loss.

The Blues took it to Dallas last night and just didn't get the bounces.

Sometimes it happens - but the hockey gods owe this squad a gift point or 2 to make up for the screwing they gave 'em last night.

STL deserved the win for their effort last night. Keep that up and they're getting home ice in the first round.

It could always be worse, I could be a Cubs fan. (But please, if you could spare me the parallels between the respective organizations, I'd really appreciate it).

It's time for some results. Moral victories don't get us any extra points in the standings.

We were up 2 goals, and we lost. That's the hallmark of last year's team.

How about two games in a row?

How about we're only five games into the season?

Talk to me after 25 games or so and I bet they are a vastly improved team when compared to last season.

Only one regulation loss in five games and it came on the road, in Nashville (who still hasn't lose in regulation) and people are jumping ship?

Come on.
Overall...the Blues have played VERY well.
I'm pissed about blowing a couple leads too, but I don't expect it to continue like last season. This team is too good for that.

If this wasn't a trend last year I don't think everyone would be freaking out as bad. But it's something we all grew tired of seeing last year. And for all the talk about "Every Game Counts", the kids are grown up/responsible and emphasizing the need to protect the third period, they've still managed to shit the bed twice in 5 games. Those aren't good statistics not matter how you look at it.

I agree that it's only 5 games in and we have a LONG way to go. But these are the games I don't want to look back on in April and say "Gosh darn guys, if we couldn't just held those leads we'd be in the playoffs". We witnessed too much of that last year. It's time to man up and hold on to these games!

I just think it's funny. I'm not overly concerned about it. It's what we taught.

This team will struggle to finish, they will be weaker in on defense, and some of the young players will bring more excitement.

I didn't enter this season with expectations of playoffs, so I'm sure not going to get overly concerned with a couple points.

I just want to see effort, and I think guys like Bergie, and Petro are certainly delivering that right now.

I think guys like Polak, Carlo, and Oshie have disappointed me so far.

Brewer has been better then expected.

Boyes is still snake bitten

Jackman actually suck worse then I remember.

So far, I'm enjoying the fact that we're in every game, and giving good effort (for the most part).
