He's been a little up and down this year so far but man when he is on, he is ON. Very, very excited to see him in the bluenote for years to come.

After the Blues lost the first game to Dallas in home & home series, they interviewed Brewer in the pre-game show. I think his non-enthusiasm and total lack of direction have pushed me over the edge with him. His comment was something like, 'We played well last night and if we play the same tonight we'll do well.' I knew right then we were going to lose that game. This 'captain' wouldn't know how to motivate his team if his life depended on it. I'm done with him. I've always defended him with the excuse that no one would be a good swap for Pronger. He is always a step behind the play and that has nothing to do with experience. That's a lack of skill and anticipation. I like to call it defensive/offensive zone awareness.

Brewer's got to go.....where do I sign?

Petro has been looking like a true #1 out there though. Love this kid. I think management handled this one just right.

I liked how Brewer was standing there with his thumb up his ass, screening Halak, during both of Dallas' goals in the last game. At least McKee and his bloated contract would get his ass on the ice and block some shots.

I had a dream last night that I was at a Blues game...they lost on a goal in OT, and the man Brewer was responsible for in front scored and I made some comment, being critical of his play.

So, up to this point, it's a pretty realistic dream.

Then, as Brewer walked towards the locker room, he bumped shoulders with me (for some reason I was standing in the hallway going to the locker room) and he sneered at me and asked if I was the guy who started the petition.

I said I was... and then we had a discussion about his play...he was pissed and sad at the same time...like he was going to cry. I felt kind of bad.

And then Randy Karaker and I proceeded to tell Brewer how much he has been sucking and that all we care about is winning.

Weird.

Of course...now that his +/- leads the team, and he's played in every game...now it's time to move to other statistics.

He's on pace for a 15-20 point season...not great by any stretch, but he's also on pace for +25.

Which I think qualifies as pretty great.

31 blocked shots in 27 games..so yeah...he blocks shots too.

Which would mean his trade value is probably higher than it has ever been in his career.
Which means you trade him RIGHT NOW if you can.

I find it insulting that it's his contract year and he just so happens to be having his best season as a Blue...which really isn't saying THAT much as he was God-awful-terrible for five years and he's really not playing stellar this year, he's just been better than he has been the previous five years.

It's also no coincidence that Brewer has a better +/- this season now that we have a better goalie.

I really don't want players on this team that only step up their play during the last year of a contract.
The absolute worst thing that could happen is if management resigns him to a 3+ year contract to reward him for his better than average play this year.
