Turek is a good comparison. Five hole you could drive a truck through tonight.

And slow is the best thing to describe brewer. He's got lead in his skates these days. Not to mention when he got walked around and then dropped his stick for good measure. God awful.

Good thing we still have a few more games to make a playoff push.

I'm not overly concerned about the playoffs right now. I honestly think we'll be a playoff team but I also think we're going to continue to struggle until we get healthy and it would help to also acquire some help up front. We usually just don't have enough offense...and, of course, we need to start playing our #1 goalie in ALL DIVISIONAL MATCHUPS, especially against long time rivals. Sitting Halak against the Hawks and saving him for a game against an Eastern conf. team? I am still scratching my head on that one. :?: :?

First off, the Blues were obviously garbage coming out of the gate. They got a fluke set-up (that was actually pretty nice) goal to tie it originally but Jesus they were bad.

Post Crombeen fight- holy crap that was a new team. I will say this- if this team can play like they did after the Crombeen fight on anything approaching a consistent basis- I will shut up about complaining about this team forever. They got pissed off and it was awesome. The energy skyrocketed, they played smarter, actually sustained offensive pressure for more than 2 seconds at a time and combined with a Hawks let-down, was almost a beautiful thing.

PENALTIES!!! AHH!! When you're playing like crap early on- marching to the penalty box isn't going to help. And to be fair to Conklin, I'm not sure his luck could have been much worse tonight. All the bounces- ALL the bounces went the Hawks' way: either off the posts, between his legs or rebounds in front of the net, he had NO luck tonight. The Blues actually kill a penalty or (better yet) not take so many and they win this game.

Petro was studly tonight.

I actually didn't think EJ did too bad, I'm a little confused on the negative comments- he had a few good poke-checks and was pretty darn good on the transition game and in the offensive zone.

I swear to god every time I watch a full Blues game Eric Brewer scores a goal. I've seen, live, nearly every goal he's ever scored. Minus that, he was painful as usual. And slow.

Props to Jackman for sitting Kane on his ass for trying to have a pair and go after McDonald (which I'm not sure that was a penalty, I think Stalberg or whoever it was just fell, that was a pretty weak bump).

WHY WHY WHY is is that every time Kane has the puck, we are sitting there staring at him like he's God's gift to man?! We gave up a franking overtime winner earlier in the year because of it and Kane made some plays tonight because of it as well. Lock down on your assignments and stop f*cking staring at him- jeeze.

The Janssen-Scott fight was almost comical. I applaud Janssen's effort for trying to get his team to bounce back after going down early but Scott had almost a foot and a full arm's length on Janssen, that was pretty dumb of him.

The 2 minute offsetting minors at the end of the game was just to keep the game under control. Zero other reason. They were just standing there jawing at each other and the refs didn't want them to go again. Guaranteed.

And other than a stupid drunk kid most of the Hawks fans were pretty decent tonight. Good night, bad time to be at the United Center but had fun.

The last thing I'm going to say is that I am honestly not mad about this loss. The reason is pretty straightforward- although we got down bad and early, this team battled. And they battled hard. They could've bent over and completely taken it in the @$$ but from the 5-1 point on they played a hell of a game. Just played like garbage and had all the bad luck in the world beforehand. I think they will hands down win their next game; I think this one inspired them. Count on it.

Yeah, Conklin was unlucky a few times with the bad bounce off of the glass (but he shouldn't have left the crease for that one anyway...he should stay in the net on fluttering pucks shot in high on the glass), but he was pretty bad at other times. The Hawks first goal was terrible. No screen, puck on the ice, Conklin saw it all the way and had plenty of time, but the puck went under his pad when he kicked it out. Bad goal.

On the Hawk's 6th goal, it was an average shot that went under Conklin's arm, hit the near post and they tapped it in on the other side. No way that puck should go through Conklin. On that goal, Brewer's head should have been on a swivel, but it wasn't. He was staring at Kane and not watching the play or the puck and the puck had squirted out behind him. And even with him staring at Kane, Kane was still able to react before Brewer, skate towards him, reach behind him and tap the puck in. If Brewer isn't going to take out Kane, he is worthless on that play. Horrible play all around.

On the 2 on 1 that was played poorly by, I think it was Johnson, Conklin was way back in his net and gave way too much of the far side. He's gotta challenge the shooter a bit more. Easy goal...bad play by Conklin.

Conklin did make that great sprawling save after we pulled to within 5-4...but that was about it for the game. He needed to make a few more high quality saves, or hell, just a few more routine saves.

I don't blame Conklin for the goal against where Johnson slid into him, kicked up Conklin's stick and the puck went off Johnson and under Conklin's stick. That was a fluke goal on a careless play by Johnson.

The Hawks were probably given four gift goals last night that were either flukey or horrible plays by Conklin.

I'll say this, it was a good finish and they played pretty well after being down 5-1 to make it 5-4...but damnit, when you battle back from being down by 4 goals, you don't give up that 6th goal the way Conklin did. That is completely inexcusable.

I like Conklin, he's been a good backup, but he just did not have it last night at all.

Scoring erupts from the first line. Backes with the hat trick, but McDonald scores 4 points; 2G 2A.

And then Randy Karaker and I tell Brewer how much we care about winning.

The Hawks scored 7. Marian Hossa was not in the lineup. This is a fact.

Get Tarasenko here now...

Oh wait, goal scoring actually wasn't the problem. If it's not one thing, it's another. Fugg'itall.
