Reeling Blues head to Vancouver

TV: Fox Sports-Midwest, SNET-P.

Last 10: St. Louis 3-6-1; Vancouver 6-3-1.

Season Series: This is the first of four meetings between the teams. The Blues went 2-1-1 against the Canucks in 2009-10.

Big Story: They managed to get a point on Saturday night, but the Blues' woes continued when Taylor Hall scored 23 seconds into overtime in a 2-1 loss to the Edmonton Oilers at Rexall Place. Eric Brewer scored the lone goal for the Blues, who have now lost five in a row -- the first time they have gone that long without a victory since December of 2008.

"At least we got a point out of it," Brewer said. "You deal with it. That's the way it is. It's a grind every night."

Team Scope:

Blues: The Blues cap off a quick two-game trip on Sunday. After a heartbreaking loss Saturday night, the plane ride back to St. Louis after the game Sunday would be much more enjoyable if St. Louis can find a way to end this long skid.

"I thought we battled hard and did some positive things," forward Alexander Steen said. "They took advantage of their chances. It was a tough one to lose. I thought if we kept going the way that we were, that we were going to get the 'W.' But sometimes it doesn't work out. We have to keep our heads up."

Canucks: Vancouver avenged a 7-1 thrashing in Chicago 13 days earlier as Roberto Luongo stopped all 32 shots he faced in a 3-0 win against the Blackhawks at the United Center on Friday night. On Nov. 20, Luongo was pulled after giving up four goals in 35 minutes to the defending champs.

"He was outstanding tonight for us," Canucks defenseman Dan Hamhuis said. "We had a few breakdowns there in the second period and that was real key time for us and him playing as well as he did gave us a chance to get that first one and we then come out for a strong third."

Who's Hot: Jaroslav Halak has a 2.38 goals-against average and three shutouts for the Blues. … Canucks defenseman Alexander Edler had an assist on Friday night and now has 17 points in 23 games. Alex Burrows has a five-game point streak.

Injury Report: The Blues will be without T.J. Oshie (ankle), David Perron (concussion) and Roman Polak (wrist). … Alexandre Bolduc (ankle), Guillaume Desbiens (hand) and Sami Salo (ACL) are out for Vancouver.

Stat Pack: Since the aforementioned 7-1 loss to the Blackhawks, the Canucks have gone 4-1-0, outscoring their opposition 23-8 with 12 different players having scored at least once over that stretch.

Puck Drop: "The twins and him are starting to find their groove again. It was going to take a little bit of time. You just have to bide that time, give your guy the opportunity to find his rhythm. No training camp or late in training camp is a tough thing for a player to get back." -- Canucks coach Alain Vigneault on Alexandre Burrows and the Sedin twins :/quote

Anybody taking the Blues in this game?

Canucks 7
Blues 1 (McDonald)

Why not? I was right last night.

This will be the first game all year I will be missing. Not just because they are hard to watch, but I have hockey of my own. I hate Sunday NHL hockey.

You forgot to add that Johnson and Steen collide while trying to celebrate a goal and both suffer season-ending injuries.

Wait I thought we were already put on blocks and left to rust on the front lawn of East St. Louis.

Blues forward is day-to-day after being injured Dec. 4 at Edmonton
Sunday, 12.05.2010 / 6:45 PM / News

By Chris Pinkert - St. Louis Blues Online
Blues forward Andy McDonald is being listed as day-to-day with an upper body injury.

Head Coach Davis Payne made the announcement to members of the media prior to Sunday's game in Vancouver.

McDonald, who leads the Blues with 17 points (eight goals, nine assists), was injured on the final sequence of Saturday's game in Edmonton.

While carrying the puck early in overtime, McDonald hit a rut in the ice and lost his balance. As he fell, he was bumped in the head by Oilers forward Shawn Horcoff. [WATCH]

McDonald will be re-evaluated on Monday when the Blues return to St. Louis.

That was a sweet toe-drag by Steen.

And if I hear Pang talk one more time about how awesome Brewer was last night, I will drive to Vancouver and spray water on that little Gremlin.
