Halak Leaves Practice Early---to IR

Post by JPonder94 »

Dan O'Neill STLToday.com wrote:Blues netminder Jaroslav Halak, who just retruned to the lineup three games ago, skated off the ice early at practice on Wednesday at St. Louis Mills.

Halak did not play for 13 days with what was listed as an "upper body injury." It is suspected that problem was solme kind of injury to his glove hand or wrist.

On Monday, Halak came off the ice shaking his glove hand, as the team continued with practice. Trainer Ray Barille followed Halak intro the dressing room and emerged moments later to confer with general manager Doug Armstrong, who was sitting in the stands.

Stay tuned, more later.

The "upper body injury" I believe is between the ears.

He's got to fake injuries so Payne actually sits him some.

I still hold out hope for Halak, he shows signs, so I don't want them completely running him into the ground and therefor destroying his mechanics and confidence long term.

He isn't too shabby because he's a backup, playing backup minutes. You put more minutes on leaky BJ and he totally falls apart.

Heck... Let's see what Bishop or Allen can offer. They are dominating the AHL.

Agreed, I was merely trying to comment on his recent aggressive nature, while taking yet another chance to bash Cam.

thedoc was correct in his original statement (save Grant).

per Kerber---

Halak has been placed on IR making him not available for any action this weekend. I'd expect to see Bishop at some point w/4 gms in 5 days

Maybe they'll surgically remove the concrete that is his glove side.

Considering Halak's reaction time, this injury probably accrued back in December but he just finally started shaking it.

Update:

Halak has a broken hand, not a bruised one.

No wonder Payne was pushing Bishop after the loss to Chicago.

Damn were lucky to have a goalie like Halak, plus it's good to have Bishop in the minors to get quality starts and a playoff that he wouldn't get in STL.
