Just wondering what people are thinking about the next Captain. From what I've heard, it should be voted on next season.

This shouldn't be a debate at all.

Why the 'Frank' is Jackman's name even an option?

Because he is the longest tenured Blue. It's called respect for the one who has been with the organization the longest.

Jackman is still a nice part of this team. People want him to be Scott Stevens, but he's about 40% of the player Stevens was.
I still like him because he's old school.
I gotta go with Backes, I suppose, as long as he's respected in the room

Jackman has carried the "A" the longest and been with the franchise a long time. I put the 3 remaining "A"s up and a solid vet in McDonald.

We'll have to wait until next season to see who the captain is.
They aren't naming a captain this year, out of respect to Brewer. What the hell??
They did this same damn thing when Drake left. Name a (Franking) captain and quit trying to be so damn polite.

So your argument is "We've been making a mistake this long.....why not keep it up?"
How quickly we forget....I know everyone is excited by the Brewer trade, but the first half of the season when he was playing better....no one could get rid of Jackman fast enough. Now you want to give him the 'C'.
Dude has one year left and there is absolutely no way he's back. Look no further then his diminished ice time for proof that management has finally figured out this farce.
You give him the C and you'll have to name another captain after next year.
Backes is the clear answer here. I think his new contract even reflected their plans to lead this young team.
During his interview, Armstrong mentioned that Stewart's age was a very important part of this trade. He wants these guy to grow together and play together for a long time, and David is here for the long run. It's not inconceivable to think that 74, 21, 42, 25, 27, 57.....are all playing together for the next 8 + years.
Why delay the inevitable and just give Backes the 'C' now.

I posted the following on Facebook during the game last night: "Backes for Captain."
Says it all.

I think Backes is the clear choice of who it should be, but if I were to bet, I would put my money on Jackman.
I don't know how much to read into this, but last night before the third period the refs talked to the Ducks' captain and Jackman before the third period (I'm assuming to say something about the game not turning into a blood bath). Jackman repping the Blues instead of Backes could be ominous of the current pecking order.

I never said
"We've been making a mistake this long.....why not keep it up?" I explained why I made it an option to vote for him.
"Now you want to give him the 'C'." No, I don't.
Obviously you don't understand the concept of a poll, let me try to explain it to you:
Poll: noun
"A sampling or collection of opinions on a subject, taken from either a selected or a random group of persons, as for the purpose of analysis."
I wanted to collect the
opinions of a subject (next Blues Captain) taken from a selected group (I tried to explain how I selected them in my last post but I guess it didn't get through, try reading it again) for the purpose of analysis and discussion on this forum. Just because I listed Jackman doesn't mean that I want him to be a Captain, I want people to have the option to vote for him. By your argument, it would mean I want Backes, Steen, Jackman, McDonald and everyone under the sun in "Someone Else" to be Captain, in which case we would have to turn our jerseys pink and hold team bake sales.
Please let me know if you're still confused about what a poll is.

I'm always a little surprised that Oshie's name doesn't come up in discussion. I don't think he should wear the C, but I could see him getting an A.

I couldn't agree more with this. I remember when they did this when Dallas left, and I thought it was dumb then, too. It's not like Brewer was a legend and we're retiring his number next week or something. Jeez, just name a captain!

I agree, I think an A could be coming but I couldn't envision a C on him yet so I didn't put him in... That incident with the interview he did while he was back at North Dakota comes to mind when I think of maturity, but since then I haven't heard one bad thing about the kid.
