Blues 3
Caps 1
Somehow, in some sort of backwards Blues logic, it makes sense for us to win tonight against a great team after playing our way out of the playoffs vs mediocre teams.

Caps been struggling to score goals, so the Blues will likely cure that ailment.

The Blues are the cure to every team's woes, be it lack of scoring or shaky goaltending.

The Blues should just get together with the other teams coaches before the games and ask them what they want to work on.
Powerplay need work? No sweat, we'll take some penalties and let you fix it up. Need to practice two on ones? Sure, we'll send our guy in to pinch all night. Need to beat the trap? We'll run whatever system you want to try and beat. Hey, we're here to please. We'll tighten you guys up for the next real game. That's what we're here for!

Say I suck as a fan, but I hope at this point they just lose out the rest of the season. I know the draft is supposed to suck this year, but with a top 5 pick they should be able to secure someone pretty good, maybe Gabe Landeskog, who's scouted as similar to Backes and Stewart which would be awesome for this team. And as a top pick, they'd surely give the 1st rounder to Colorado next year instead, when they're sure as shit going to be a better team.

I'm also ready for them to lose like crazy.
It will get us a better pick and force management to go get some real help in the offseason.

This team is only a few pieces away from not entirely sucking anymore. Those pieces are:
1) A complement for Backes and Stewart so you can roll three legit lines -- This is where I bring up Landeskog because of his scouting report, and he has been cited as one of the most NHL ready players in the draft, along with Nugent-Hopkins.
2) A guy who can score at will -- maybe Tarasenko will be this guy, and it doesn't hurt at all to get Perron back in October.
3) A veteran blueliner who can be had on the cheap (Andrei Markov comes to mind because he is an injury risk, after all)
4) A serviceable backup (In the form of Bishop, I'll chalk up the 6-0 loss to lack of experience)
As I see it, 2 of those 4 pieces are already in the organization, 1 can easily be had as a FA, and the other is dependent on this team sucking a big fat juicy nut the rest of the season. So, I say go for it. Let's go Washington!

If the draft were slightly deeper, I wouldn't mind them losing a ton. But, doesn't it drop considerably after the top 4? We're currently in 9th, and 6 points ahead of Florida (4th pick). I'd rather see them win a few games as something to build upon next year.
