With Sharp, Keith, Toews, Seabrook, Hossa, and Kane locked up long term, you're all gonna need it. :cup:

Fair enough. I'm 10x more excited about the season than I was at this time last year. Even with the subtraction of some pieces after the STANLEY CUP win, the core is still intact. I can't think of any roster in the division that's as good as the top 6 Hawks forwards.
On top of that they addressed some glaring issues this offseason, and also shed a terrible contract (Campbell). Even with Sharp, Kane, Toews, Keith, Hossa, and Seabrook signed, they still have just over $3 million in cap space this year, so they have some flexibility that they didn't have last season.

Even with the disappointment that was last season, they took the eventual Western Conference champions to OT in game 7. We're dealing with a huge "IF" here, but IF the Hawks scored in that OT, I'm not sure anyone else in the West could have beaten them. On the other hand, no one else came close to pushing the Canucks out of it until the Final.

How's it gonna feel when a team near the cap ceiling is beaten in the standings by a team near the cap floor?

Well the Blues are only at the bottom of the deepest part of the floor because we gotta save for Jesus himself next year. Tara will get 12 mill a year for the next 30 years! :letsgoblues:

I think we have a sig-bet proposal...?

I am here to tell everyone that I personally promise to donate $75 to either this forum, or Curt's favorite legitimate charity if the Blues finish higher in the standings than the Hawks next season. :okman:

Here you go...they take all major credit cards. You wanna donate and get it over with now, or do you wanna draw it out like an NBA team trailing by 30 pts. with 30 seconds to go and fouling like crazy.

If you want to donate to the forum...we can make that the prize for next year's Playoff Challenge contest.
Up to you.

Either way...St. Louis just got $75 richer.

Here's what I'll offer you:
- I'll make you a forum moderator for a week.
- I'll design and send you a special shirt in the new LGB store (hopefully launched before the start of the season) denoting the Hawks dominance.
- Plus I'll kick in $25.

All joking aside though, the Central Division looks to be the toughest it's been in... well forever.

The Wings will be the Wings until we all see a reason to think otherwise

The Hawks are a perennial contender.

Jackets look to be fielding the best team they've ever had.

Preds are coming off a season where they won their first playoff series.

... and then there's us :?

I'm calling it now: 4 of the 5 teams in the Central will make the playoffs this season

I say that's a pretty safe bet..5 would be pushing it, I could definitely see 4. Is it just me or are the BJ's really underrated this year?

Sounds good! If I lose, payment will be made either when there is an insurmountable lead, or the last day of the season.

Something to make the season a little more interesting.

Something you are forgetting Ruutu- the Blues will have a full season without Eric Brewer and Cam Janssen in the lineup.
