If I'm not mistaken, he did that after the team lost the NW division that year. Then they were quickly discarded from the playoffs as well.

I love the "fans" that are blaming the Vancouver loss on:

The fact they've played too many games in the last two seasons.

There were too many days between games (although they first said this would help Sedin get healthier.)

The NHL hates Canada.

The refs were instructed by the league to call less on the Kings because Bettman hates Canada.

Yeeehaa!!

Luongo asks to be traded. Tampa and Toronto being speculated as likely destinations.

If he can't handle the pressure in Vancouver, not sure how he could handle the pressure in Toronto.

I think Luongo gets a bad rap. He's a solid goaltender...but the idiot vocal minority in Vancouver wants to run him out of town.

Yep... Don't provide any offense so trade the goaltender. This is perfect logic in Canuckistan.

He's a solid goaltender with an insane contract.

But if Luongo leaves, Canuck fans won't be able to yell "LOU!!!!!!!!!!" after every great save!

But to make up for it, maybe they can come up with some jackassed "dance" for fans to do when the 'Nucks go on the power play.

Given Luongo's contract, if he's traded, will his new team have to honor the remaining 10 years on his contract? Or will Vancouver still have to fork over a certain amount for the next 10 years? How does that all work out?

You can't trade money, or take on salary for a contract you've traded.

New team's on the hook for the whole thing.
