Chicago definitely did not "lay down" in Game 6. They were flat out dominating the Coyotes through the 1st two periods and Mike Smith stole the win. Shots on goal were 28-8 in favor of Chicago after two periods. The Coyotes looked like they were on their heels and in trouble. Yet they end those first two periods with a 1-0 lead. In the 3rd, the Blackhawks were worn out and probably very dejected with all the work from the 1st two periods earning them nothing. It was like Mike Smith stole their will.
In the Western conference, it seemed to me the goalies who were better at eliminating 2nd chance opportunities won their series. Smith, Elliott, Rinne and Quick are all exceptional at not surrendering rebounds. And what did we hear repeatedly from the Sharks about what they needed to do to win? Get 2nd chance opportunities which were almost non-existent.
Looks like the Western Conference Semi-Finals are going to be some low scoring games.
