Pretty surprising, actually. Even though I think Zetterberg embellished and had his glove between his head and the glass I thought Weber would get a game. Zetterberg should've gotten one (a penalty) for boarding as well.

They are comparing the play to the Bertuzzi-Moore play...which is utterly ridiculous.

And, of course, Wings fans thought Franzen was completely innocent when he cross checked Backes in the face and then punched him in the head while he was down. That was no less serious than Weber's turnbuckle play on Zetterberg. I'd even say Franzen's play was worse. A cross check to the face is capable of a lot more damage...plus Backes was cut on the play. No fine, no suspension...not even a penalty.

I think the Weber play is magnified, some are outraged and oveanalyzing it because it was an unusual thing to happen in a game magnified it a bit. It looked worse than it was. But it was still a stupid thing to do...and may only fire up Detroit now.

Screw it. I'm glad he wasn't suspended. Franzen has been getting away with crap like that all year with no punishment. What goes around comes around. Wings fans want to have their cake and eat it too...tough shit.

If this was the old days before they enforced the instigator, they wouldn't even need to suspend Weber because he would be injured from the 4+ guys immediately mauling his face after he pulled that disgusting bullshit.

Or better yet, Weber may not have even done it at all if he knew it was a good possibility that his face would be caved in by the other team in retribution.

Just another argument for letting the players police themselves and not some suits who can analyse every little incident after the fact.
