SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) - Brian Eliott will start Game 3 of the St. Louis Blues first-round series against the San Jose Sharks, while Jaroslav Halak will not dress because of a lower-body injury.

Coach Ken Hitchcock ruled Halak out of Monday night's game in San Jose because of the hard hit he took from teammate Barret Jackman in the second period Saturday night in a St. Louis' 3-0 win that tied the series at a game apiece.

Elliott stopped all 17 shots he faced to complete the shutout. In the regular season, he led the league with a 1.56 goals-against average as the Blues regularly used two goaltenders.
Discuss.

Watch those dirty bastards take a run at Elliott.

So, who shall be Elliott's backup? Jake Allen?

Allen's backing up.

I'm totally fine with Elliot (even prefer him for game 3). But, if they take a run at him, skull's need to be cracked.

Why is Elliott's the most commonly misspelled name on the team?

I've always wondered the same thing. Two t's, folks.

As for the topic at hand, I said this in flashchat last night: Halak's injury could either be the best or worst thing that happens to the Blues. They certainly responded to Elliott in net last night. And I have to admit, I do feel more comfortable with Ells in net.

How do you feel with Allen in net? Because I get the distinct feeling the Sharks will be taking some shots at Mr. Elliott.

I don't like Halak being out-out - and I'm not buying "lower" body injury - but it gets Elliott in the goal. A number of us thought near the end of the season that he gives us our best shot anyway. Seems like an OK result to me.

Well, I thought Elliott should have started the series...so I'm happy that he is in net now. Granted, it sucks that Halak had to get hurt for him to go in...but it is what it is.

As long as Elliott doesn't aggravate the injury he had last week, I think this may be a blessing in disguise for us.

We'll see.

Halak was hurt in game #1, but he stayed in. That was a lower body deal...looked like a knee issue as he was flexing it after he got hurt. If this injury is indeed a lower body injury as well, it may be the same injury that just got worse.

How crazy would it be if Elliott did get hurt and Allen has to play?
We had the best goaltending duo in the NHL going into the playoffs...almost every team would love to have either as their #1...and they both go down in the 1st series?

Cross your fingers boys. If that happens...we're in trouble.

I do have the same feeling, and I don't like it...

I'm a huge Jaro mark, so it's too bad... Having said that, I'm not at all worried, Elliott has kicked ass all season and seemed cool as a cucumber in Game #2! GO BLUES!!!

I have been in Elliotts camp all year. That being said I sure hope it is just a knee sprain and just needs a few days to heal. I would hate to see Jaro go down for the year after helping us make this huge run. Not to mention if we make a deep playoff run we will be shopping one of them in the off-season, so I don't want a long term injury to hamper that if it is Jaro we do shop.

All that has been reported is that it is not considered a serious injury. This is good. Elliott on the road. Jaro probably available Thursday or Saturday.

Yeah, it looked like his knee and you could see it bother him as he went down the hallway back to the locker room, but the fact that we walked off on his own power was certainly a good sign.
