So I just spent a little time reading the lets go sharks fan forum and I learned a few things over there. 1) They make cardsfan look like a hockey genius, so what does that tell you about how much they actually know about hockey. 2) Only one guy thinks there needs to be a suspension over AMac's cracked helmet. 3) They are all hoping that they run Elliott tonight or they think they have no chance of scoring.

I'm hoping for a split in San Jose. Blues have been up and down on the road. Come away with at least 1 victory and I'll be happy.

The biggest thing tonight is they must keep their composure.

Perron taking the slashing penalty in the offensive zone in game 1 was bad news, and he isn't the only guy that did dumb stuff in that game. You take a number and wait for your chance to return the favor - retaliation is almost always called even when they miss the original call. You have to pay a price to win a playoff game.

They need to play patient and strong. If they play their team game they will control long stretches. The kicker is going to be how many goals we can pot and when. This team is very, very good when they have a lead, but does not come back very well.

And if anyone runs A-mac again, I am all for Reeves getting a suspension for breaking someone. Jump someone in the corner and beat them to a stump.

I am shocked that the league declined to review the hit on A-mac or the elbow. Both of those plays were targetted hits to the head. The thing that makes me most angry is our guys were essentially penalized (denied review, major penalty, etc) because they didn't fall down and act dead. It is irrelevant how "hurt" the player is - an illegal hit to the head should be a suspension regardless. Shanahan should be out after this season, and I suspect many teams will be calling for him to be sacked in the off season meetings.

Agreed. A game that falls apart and causes the Blues to lose their composure only go against us and in the Sharks' favor. We have to bury some bad feelings and stay focused. Great shutout win the other night but we have to keep it up. Both our goalies got lucky on some of those bounces and can't ask for that every game. Stay sharp, stay good in our own end and I think we cruise the rest of this series: honestly.

Sharks are going to be diving bishes this game, and will do what they can post-whistle to get a reaction. Mark it down. Blues can't get frustrated and absolutely must play disciplined hockey even in the face of the inevitable selective whistle swallowing.

1) The Blues were not the undisciplined team in Game 2. The Sharks were. Blues had 6 power plays to the Sharks 3. So I have no worries on that front from the Blues.
2) The Blues won both games in San Jose this season, so the team knows than can win on the road in San Jose. The Sharks have to prove they can beat the Blues in the Shark Tank now - not rely on whatever happened 8 friggin' years ago - but what has happened THIS season.
3) The Blues need to stay patient - just like they did in Game 2 - and if the opportunity presents itself at the end to punish the Sharks for any transgessions which happen throughout the game - beat the F out of 'em - as long as it does not impact the final score.

Stats like that are meaningless in this case because 6 of those 8 road games were from like 8-9 years ago.

Different coach, different players.

Besides, in 16 games this year we only needed one goal to win. 8)

We lose with him in. We win 3-0 without him. It's probably not directly related, but why change what works?

"The message was sent. It was received loud and clear," Stewart said. "I'm going to go out there and I'm going to work my [tail] off. You see the last game. Those are the games you dream about. End of the game you win and there's line brawls and stuff like that. That's stuff you want to be a part of. I'm obviously disappointed I didn't get to experience that, but that's the good thing about this game, you get a chance right now tonight to redeem yourself. It's, 'What have you done for me lately?' I'm going to go out there and show 'em."

Stewart better have gotten the message.

Hitchcock was right about #25 in double OT at the end of Game 2. San Jose is cycling in the corner while #25 stands at the Blues blueline defending absolutely no one. He isn't preventing a pass to the point - no Sharks were there. He is just standing there watching. When the puck suddenly comes out to the slot, he is very late skating to it. The Sharks get the puck and score.

There were at least 3 similar situations in Game 2 with the puck being cycled by the Sharks and it coming back to the same point. The difference - there was a Blues forward right on top of that Shark player every single time. They forced a hurried shot, blocked a shot and stole the puck.

If #25 starts floating in this game when the play is in the Blues end, he had better find his ass on the bench for the remainder of the series.

His words say he got the message. I will believe #25 got the message when he isn't standing still at his own blueline doing absolutely nothing. The Sharks might as well have been on a power play when they scored that double OT goal.

We honestly should have won the first game. We badly outplayed San Jose...just couldn't score that 3rd goal.

I am not so sure #25 will play any differently.

Hitch got Hull to play defense, so I guess he get anyone's attention.

We will see.

Forgot to add - if that had been Ryan Reaves on the ice in 2OT, instead of #25, who knows what the outcome would have been, but I doubt the Sharks would have scored on that play. Reaves worked his ass off in regulation then sat for all of both OTs. Meanwhile, #25 loafed around, kept playing and the Blues lost. At least Hitchcock benched him, finally!

Far as I'm concerned, Chris Stewart has earned himself a rail ticket out of St. Louis. He doesn't deserve to even touch a Blues jersey after his pathetic display of play during the season. If it didn't mean jack to him before, why should it now? He didn't put in the effort before, he does NOT deserve any of the rewards of playing in the playoffs. It's not a damn right, it's a privilidge and moreso, it's an honour. And he doesn't deserve jack.

Whoever we are scratching is definently a far better player, has more heart and far more dedicated than him. I'm sick of his display of play and his ineffective ability to take playing on a team and getting paid for it seriously. They need to put him in the Press Box and padlock it shut.

He plays, he'd better bust heads and he'd better score. Elliott gets hurt cause of him and I'll be on the first train to San Jose to kick his ass**.

*Deep breaths*

Saying all of that, I Believe In Hitch, so if Hitch is putting him in, he's got a plan. And if Stewart goes the way of Bergy and seriously steps up his game and turn the corner, unlike Bergy, I'll be praising Hitch, not Stew.

Blues 3
New Golden Seals* 0

* Because the Gund family needs to remind the Bay Area with a hockey stick in their teams logos what sport they play.
** I won't waste a ticket, my time or a possibly felony charge on Stewart, that was a joke :). Though I wouldn't be opposed to buying Stewart a train ticket if it gets him permanently out of St. Louis.

Time for Stewart to man up. You only get so many chances and this might be his last.

Between him and Dags...hmmm...At least Stewart has some toughness. If he blows it again, time to put in the kid (Schwartz).

To disagree, one doesn't have to be disagreeable.
