I would have liked if the Cansucks would have at least battered the Kings, but I understand they were shell shocked after three quick losses and basically rolled over.

Who do we have that can take out Quick?

That said, we are the better team, I think we should be able to take it.

Geoff Courtnall style on Storr? Use Stewart!

We're better. We'll win.

Oy. Get your rest while you can, boys.

As good as Quick is, he is solvable. If not, LA would have been the President's Trophy winner, not the #8 seed. We can do this.

So, if the last game in round 1 is scheduled for Wednesday, when would round 2 start? Friday?

Also, you have to think that Nashville is going to butt stomp either Phoenix or Chicago.

JR was speculating Friday or Saturday for game 1.

Should be a good series. Quick is very good, but we have equal if not better goaltending and we also have the better team. We should win this series, but Vancouver was thinking the same thing.

I love west coast games...even though I have two kids who like to get up at 6:00am sometimes.

This is gonna be a tough one. Hope you all are ready for 1-0, 2-1 games all series long haha.

This series will turn on our ability to beat Quick. He stands on his head I think we lose this series but we find a way for the offense to connect, we'll take it. Either way it won't be a 4 or 5 game series.

How often do you see a huge upset in Rd. 1, only to see that team fail to deliver in Rd. 2?

Happens all of the time.
It would be a pretty big story for the #8 seed to beat the #1 & #2 seeds in back to back rounds.

That has never happened before.
Since the current playoff format was adopted (and prior to this year), there have been ten #8 seeds that have knocked off a #1 seed. But only the 8th seeded Edmonton Oilers in 2006 & 8th seeded Montreal Canadians in 2010 made it out of the 2nd round...but neither played a #2 seed in the 2nd round.

I'm not saying LA can't do it...but I am saying it's never been done before. So there's that.

...which BTW exactely is what happend this year in Switzerland. Although it was not #8, but #7, which sweeped (!) #2 in the first round and #1 in the 2nd round. They went on and won the cup this year...

Anyway, Blues in 5  :letsgoblues:

I'll play Debbie Downer here... LA improved a lot after that trade with Columbus.

This will be tough, but any possible series matchup we would have had would have been. From here on out there are no gimmes, and that's what makes the NHL playoffs great.

Exactly. It the second round of the playoffs. Whoever you are facing made the playoffs and just knocked off another playoff team....there are no roll overs here.

Quick is on his game, but if Bergie (and maybe others) can keep their azzes planted in the crease, we'll get some by him.

DaDitka and I were talking about JR's tweet. It should start Friday because of Van Halen at Scott on Saturday. I have an extra ticket. So I think I am going to sell it for $ One Billion Dollars.Image

That that Cardsfan :okman:

The Blues have faced the Kings in the postseason twice, most recently in 1998. Remember Jamie Storr? I know Curt does.

In that series as well as 1969, the Blues won in 4 games. Ergo, we have never lost a playoff game to LA.

I would imagine that streak ends this year. I say LA wins a few, it goes 7 and we win it at home.
