Series ain't over...game 2. Let's go.
KINGS at BLUES

(Los Angeles leads best-of-seven series 1-0)

TV: TSN, CNBC, RDSI

Big Story: Jonathan Quick showed once again why he is a Vezina Trophy finalist on Saturday night, as he stopped 28 of 29 shots to lead the Kings to a 3-1 victory in Game 1 of this Western Conference semifinal at the Scottrade Center. After Monday night's game, the series shifts to Los Angeles for Games 3 and 4.

Team Scope:

Kings: One of the biggest reasons for the Kings' early success in these playoffs is their play on the road. With Saturday's victory, Los Angeles improved to 4-0 away from Staples Center this postseason. While they'd obviously like to go home with a 2-0 lead in this best-of-seven series, they know the second-seeded Blues are only going to come harder Monday night.

"We've been treating each game as an individual game," said Dustin Penner, who tallied a goal and an assist Saturday night. "I know it's cliché to say that, but it's a lot harder to do it and not look too far ahead. We've just been playing every game as a one-game season."

Blues: The biggest question heading into Game 2 is, will Alex Pietrangelo be able to play?

The skilled defenseman suffered an upper-body injury during the second period Saturday night, and his status for Monday remains uncertain. Pietrangelo was pushed into the boards by Kings forward Dwight King and could not return for the third period.

"I haven't seen him today. I talked to him last night. He seemed to be in quite a bit of pain," defensive partner Carlo Colaiacovo said. "Hopefully, he woke up this morning and felt a lot better. I haven't seen him today, I haven't talked to him today. Hopefully he's good enough to go tomorrow. We'll wait for tomorrow.

"He's still got 24 hours to get himself ready. If it happens, great. We obviously need him in our lineup. He's a big part of our team. If he's not, hopefully he'll be back soon. In the meantime, we have guys capable in here of stepping up. They're going to have no choice but to. We're a team in here. That's got to be our focus."

Who's Hot: Quick is 5-1 with a 1.49 goals-against average and .955 save percentage through six playoff games.

Injury Report: Simon Gagne (concussion) and Scott Parse (hip) are out indefinitely for the Kings, while Kyle Clifford is day-to-day with an upper-body injury. … Besides Pietrangelo, goalie Jaroslav Halak (ankle) will not dress for Game 2.

Stat Pack: Slava Voynov found the back of the net for Los Angeles on Saturday night, becoming the first Kings' rookie defenseman to score in the Stanley Cup Playoffs since Alexei Zhitnik accomplished the feat in 1993.

Puck Drop: "Hopefully he's in the lineup but if not, we're going to have to push through. He's a big part of our team, but we're going to have someone else fill that role and take some responsibility. We've been filling holes and taking more responsibility all year. This is no change." -- Blues captain David Backes on Alex Pietrangelo

Paging BJ Crombeen/Chris Stewart/any one with a pair of nuts and a set of fists...first shift you need to drop gloves and beat the ever-loving crap out of King. He may not have been suspended, but doesn't mean he shouldn't answer for his hit on Petro.

Here's the deal....

McDonald's chances early...if he elevates the puck, he scores.
Nichol's chance...if he elevates the puck, he scores.
Crombeen's chance...if he elevates the puck, he scores.

Get the f'ing puck in the air and bury your chances. You don't have to put it top corner, just get it in the upper half of the net.

Quick is just that...he's quick. But there was all kinds of room up high in game one. Get him moving across and put it high and we win the game.

That is all.

Day to day... waiting to hear from JR if he is skating today.

Carlo said he was in a lot of pain last night.

I am not optimistic about him playing in game #2. I guess if he has a concussion, he's out...but if he doesn't, I'm sure he will play.

One would think if he was suffering from concussion symptoms, he wouldn't be allowed on the ice.

Either way...great news.

Switching up the lines...Bergie is going between 74 & 57 and David will center 10 & 20.

I think this is a good call and in the end Hitch will regret not leaving them that way after the end of the last series.

In his post game comments after game one he basically blamed the loss on the first line so I'm not surprised at all to see the changes.

As for sitting Stew for Daggs .......I'm fine with it......but my biggest question is how is that going to get 44 going? All I talked about all regular season was how we had to resign him, but he's been a complete no-show in the playoffs. IMO he's be the worst player by far through the first 6 games.

From JR:
Hitch not certain Petro will play. Said he is feeling better. Game-time decision.
From Norm Sanders:
Hitch on Petro: Won't put him out there for warmups tonite unless he's playing

Man, I was really hoping Stewart could get his game going. We need his size and 'scoring'. But Dags might be able to get some quick shots off, which is what the team needs.

I like the front line changes (if they they do happen). Those six players can all be switched around but each combination gives a different look. I like it.

Hoping Petro is ready to go. If not, good sign anyway that he is skating.

To disagree, one doesn't have to be disagreeable.

Another thing. I wouldn't mind seeing Reaves in for Arnott. Just for a game. I know Arnott brings the experience, but his play hasn't been that great. If you start Dags in place of Stewart, you lose the physical presence...Reaves might balance that out.

To disagree, one doesn't have to be disagreeable.
