Bergevin, a Montreal native, takes over a Canadiens team that finished last in the Eastern Conference. He replaces Pierre Guathier, who was fired at the end of the season.
About time they hired a GM, I wonder if Roy will get the coaching position.

Bergevin's top priority should be acquiring talented players who don't throw pucks into their own net. For Montreal's sake, I hope he's aware his job is to build a hockey team not a basketball team.

I can see the Montreal paper headlines now:
Canadiens Throw One Into Their Own Net: Hire Bergevin for GM
Except it would be in French. Sacre Bleu! Or something.

Yopu guys do realize that he was the director of pro player personal for the blackhawks when they put together their cup team?
He has a good resume and seems to have a clue.

I came into this thread with the sole purpose to make a 'puck in own net' joke. Was just too obvious not to do that.
I really do think he'll be a good hire. Canadiens and their fans have a high standard.
