Not to mention they still had the 22nd overall pick on top of that. I agree with you on all points. The Penguins made themselves better last night and by a wide margin. If you are the 'Canes, I don't blame you for going after Staal. They've kind of been stuck in neutral for the last several seasons. I'm not saying this trade automatically makes them a contender but it makes them better today than they were yesterday.

With the trade today(Michalek), it looks like Suter, Nash, or Parise will be a Penguin next year.

Clearing cap space like no tomorrow. Yesterday when I was watching the draft the TSN announcers opined that Parise is going to be the big push for them. Regardless of how much Parise may want to stay with the Devils, it's going to be tough to turn down the Penguins.

Should be very interesting come July 1st
