TSN reporting two former Blues re-up with their respective teams:
EJ with the Avs, 4 yrs, $15 million
Salvador with the Devils, 3 yrs, $9.5 million.
Price tag was way, way too high for Salvador, I think they overpaid big time. Great playoffs yes but I don't know that that's worth $3+ million a year

Dreger tweets that Carle is finalizing a deal with Tampa Bay. Another D-man off the block for the Blues. If they want a top 4 guy like Army said, they're probably going to have to go for a trade at this point.

They already got their man, did you forget Jeff Woywitka? Honestly, dudes!
Seriously though, I already pitched my trade idea a while back. Chris Stewart for Ryan McDonagh, straight up.

Carle gets 33 mill over 6. Strickland tweets that we were right there till the end and that the Blues made a very serious run at him.

Some of the mumblings on TSN are that he favored the franchise he had already played for. Take that for what it's worth I guess.

Army has already stated that deals longer then 4 years "are not in his DNA" and over 5 mill a year means we weren't an option to begin with.
I have to believe Army would make an exception to the long term deal/DNA thing, but it will have to be for the right player and the right deal.

He's never going to be able to sign any decent free agent with those constraints.

5 years. 5.25 mil/year.
I was just thinking the other day...Paul Kariya's contact with the Blues was 3 year, 6 mil per. PAUL KARIYA. One of the best players of his generation but he didn't live up to the deal. And Wideman gets a shade under that. Gimmeabreak.
Inflation?
