He was named head coach for Capitals and inducted to the Hall of Fame today.

Hopefully he honors his contract with the Capitals.

So...

Oates, Sakic, Sundin and Bure...

Hard to argue with those guys... but... How did Shanahan not beat out anyone not named Sakic on that list?

He has better career stats and 3 more cups.

Thinking the same thing. Hard to believe probably the premier power forward of his generation didn't get in on the first ballot. Most of the articles I read leading up to this were saying Shanny and Sakic were shoo-in's and guys like Oates/Sundin/Bure would be the ones scratching to get in.

Oates was far and away my favorite player growing up.
I styled my play after his and he's why I wore #12...and that's where cprice12 comes from.

Very cool he got in...and good for him for getting the head coaching job on a very good team.
