He's 20 years old.
He may not quite be ready. Hell, he probably isn't as ready as he could be. But I'd rather he be here now instead of risking him playing 2 more season over there, getting comfy, and never coming over.

Let him get NHL ready by being over here, under the watchful eye of this organization...not over there, being taught/told who knows what.

Exactly. Perron wasn't exactly 'ready' but with the Blues having safety gloves on (which was annoying at the time), they brought him along and he's growing into a really nice player. It's better the Tank can prove his mettle over here.

How could a KHL coach even begin to gauge at what level a player has to be at, to be NHL ready?

Shoot, did Riha even play in the NHL to begin with? AHL? I went hunting for -his- stats and for some reason couldn't find them .

And of course riding Russian airplanes for 2 more years.

He knows this from coaching Tarasenko a whopping 15 games??? Riiggghhhhttttt.

5G 4A in those 15 games. Only two players on that team were producing more points/game. Looks like sour grapes to me.

Here is Milos Riha's playing and coaching career. Milos Riha Career

Riha was fired by Spartak in 2010 and is currently trying not to be fired by SKA St Petersburg

Too soon, definitely too soon. I would never crack jokes about plane crashes, personally.

Am I the only one who misread the topic to mean that the KHL coach said he wasn't ready to be an NHL coach...

I would say so  I pretty much understood that he was referring to Tank.

Yeah, he's probably not. Prospects usually don't pan out.

All your boners will probably go limp real soon when Tank flakes out like 95% of them do.

Oh Goon, dude... I predict Tank puts up 50 points in the form of assorted goals and assists and logs 200 PIM, will that do?

I say he puts up 42 pts.
16 goals, 26 assists.

I'm cautiously optimistic but not expecting a lot quite honestly.

With the exceptions of Gilmour, Sutter and Federko has this team EVER drafted a perennial point producer? Doesn't feel like it sometimes.

edit: I looked it up. I exaggerated but not by much. Clicky!

Cliff Ronning, Wayne Babych and Rod Brind'Amour were big picks. Next best we have ever drafted as far as point production goes are names like Mike Grier, Nelson Emerson and what we traded to acquire Tkachuk and Weight.

Joe Mullen may not have been drafted, but the Blues did sign him as an undrafted free agent. He did rather well... So they didn't "miss" on him. Too bad the Ornest era forced him to be traded.

Looking at some of those drafts, it's just humiliating.

I'm guessing right about the same numbers.....which would be fine with me as long as he learning and playing hard on both ends of the ice.

If dude is plying 'one way' hockey and cherry picking and only net's 16...that's a problem. But from everything I've read on his game, he doesn't sound like that kind of player.
