Like the draft that the management didn't send any representative? Or the seventy years with no first round pick due to tampering ?

You know what having Taresenko does to the Blues? It's like making a trade without giving up anybody! Just felt like saying that.

What sticks out to me is that, prior to Oshie/Berglund/Perron, we have had TERRIBLE luck drafting first round picks.

When you go down that list, it's about 50/50 or worse that our first round selection we've had has flopped. Granted we did go through a rough time when we never had one  At the same time we've historically done well in the 2nd+ rounds. That can't be typical.

My understanding is that a lot of that (in more recent history) is explained by the pre-Jarmo versus with-Jarmo period. I remember a lot of folks being very impressed by his scouting abilities. Perhaps before Jarmo the scouting team wasn't as strong?

The Blues haven't had much in the way of high picks, at least until the dark era. Before having the first pick in '06, the Blues hadn't drafted in the top ten since 1989. That says something about the first round chances, I think. As to the second round...I don't know. Luck?

We've also drafted very late in the first round fairly often.

Is there really any difference in the 25th-40th overall selections? You can debate it but I've always felt once you get outside of the top 5 or 10 picks teams are half firing from the hip or it comes down to quality of scouting, depth of scouting, etc.

Hell, first overall selections aren't guarantees. We were happy to trade ours :?

I predict the Blues, as a team, garner a 164 point regular season, and then win 15 straight in the playoffs... and then go on a 4 game losing streak. They were due.

I predict Ken Hitchcock is the coach of the Blues for the entire 2012-13 season.

I predict Fargo enters, and wins, the latest contest the players are pitching up on Twitter. No further comment.

I predict glen enters, then within 15 seconds, makes his trademark "o" face, and then stares at the poster of Justin Bieber on his ceiling.

wait, what?

With as quickly as coaches are fired in the NHL anymore that's not a simple prediction

I predict the next coach after Hitchcock will be Mike Keenan.

To clarify, I didn't mean for you to die or Keenan or Hitch to die, it's a game, its not life and death or anything serious. I meant the -idea- of having Keenan again as Coach. I know you're kidding but the thought of it sent a shiver up my spine and took me back to a time when we had the kind of team that could have walked away with the Cup and Keenan jacked all that up to Hell.

If you took it any other way, I do greatly apologize.
