So we shall see. This seems to be a sort of hail mary attempt to save a 40+ game season.

I'm numb to it all now. I grew so frustrated and disappointed that in mid December I gave up and stopped hawking over every tweet and news article on TSN.
Don't get me wrong, I know I want hockey back...but my heart just isn't in it right now because of all of the crap over the past 100+ days of the lockout. I'm just tired of it. I don't think I will realize how much I want it back until the the puck drops on the first game.

I'm not spending a dime on hockey for however many days as I am on board with the "Just Drop It" boycott...well, all except for the part about not watching games on tv. I'm still going to watch on tv...but no Center Ice for me or tickets to games, merchandise, etc for the specified time, whatever that would be.
:plusplus:

And now today the NHLPA has presented a "counter-proposal" which just made me groan. JUST SIGN THE DAMN THING!!! God. The counter proposal is probably (guessing) way outta whack, the owners are going to feel another impasse and just reject the counter-offer without making a new one. January 11th is basically the "red line" for the entire season. GET THE F*CKING THING DONE GUYS!!! EF[/quote

If their offer isn't close to the owners offer. Its done. Over, and to be honest, I'm going to side with the owners on this one.
With that, the NHLPA just pissed me off. That offer TSN listed has the owners caving in some way on almost EVERYTHING!!!! Even on the three areas Bettman had said there would be no compromise.

I have been Mr. Negativity since late July about this whole damn thing, but this is the most confident that I have been. Even after all of the crap we have seen, the PA is not going to just accept an offer; any good union would never just outright accept an offer. This is all part of the walk. They highlight what they like, push for more, the NHL either concedes more or says that they aren't budging. If the NHL concedes further, the PA gets a victory. If they don't, Fehr and co. tell Bettman they want to look back over the offer with members of the PA, they wait a day then sign the deal.

I don't think this is a negative step at all. This is all part of the process. The PA did not make an entirely new offer (as they did in October that pissed off the NHL), they are just adjusting a few things. You could tell from Bettman's comments that the PA played off of the NHL's proposal.

Don't jump off that cliff just yet.

And the owners have "kicked the ball back" to the NHLPA with a new counteroffer.

I'll admit wasn't expecting that but I agree, this is IT. If these exchanges can't produce it, with the players and owners literally 9 days from losing the season, then it's done.

COME ON COOLER HEADS. PREVAIL!!

They'll get it done within the next week.
I'm just pissed at the whole thing. Not because we lost games, but because I lost a sig bet.

Hi guys Just checking in!

I say we have a deal on the 8th, then we get to watch the blues play 48 games. I don't expect playoffs in a short season like this though. I will watch games on tv but don't expect me to buy a ticket this season with the way us fans got bent over this year.

It has been suggested by Puck Daddy that if the season resumes the NHL offer Center Ice to fans for free this year.
That would be cool. I doubt it happens...but it would be a nice gesture.

Cool?

Loser displays a sig of the other's choosing (within the site guidelines of course) for...say...a month or so? Until Feb. 1st?

What say you?
sounds fair sir
Do you have a sig for me to display? Just shoot me one and I'll honor the bet.

Which makes me think that the proposal/ counter-proposal negotiations have ended and the "CBA talks" ended up reverting back to their "normal" flavor of getting nowhere and banging heads against the wall.

Personally I think that was the last shot. When the NHL tabled another offer I REALLY hoped that that would be that. They two sides would tweak it as they proposed and counter-proposed, and they'd sign it and we'd be done. What on earth was I thinking?

That would be nice but I doubt we will get anything from the NHL.

According to Eklund...
As one eastern conference owner said to me last night, "If we can't get a deal now with what is left to deal with, then we are all just pathetic."
I think after this is done, the entire leadership structure of the NHLPA & NHL need to be blown up and rebuilt. They have proven multiple times they are completely incapable of negotiating in a timely manner.
Get some folks in place with some thicker skin. Every other day you hear about one side or the crying and upset or hurt at something the other side said or did, which causes delays and setbacks so they can go sulk for a while.

Pathetic is an understatement.
No other professional sport has had this kind of drama and issues surrounding their CBA negotiations.

It's a recurring theme. Society may undervalue consistency, but not here at LGB!
