It might not look that way come trade deadline time, Berg might have two new people there. I don't know what makes me think this but I see dag's traded and possible stew if he doesn't pick up production. IMO

JR mentioned yesterday that Stewart worked out like crazy in the offseason and has lost 20 pounds and is 'noticeably thinner' in the face. Stewart admitted to getting tired in the 3rd period quite a bit last season (not sure what his excuse was for dogging it full games), so hopefully this helps with his energy. I'm hoping Stew has a bounce back year. D'ags on the other hand is versatile, but his production slipped back last year. I could see him being replaced if need be (Schwartz maybe?).

Yeah, Stewart himself admitted that he was tired in third periods last year and then noted that despite playing 30+ minutes a game over there, he was just getting going late in games. That can only help.

Every so often it's always something else with Stewart.
He's REALLY going to turn things around this time...honest this time...no foolin'. Doesn't he say that every few months after he has been pretty much non-existent? And then nothing really changes?

Being in better shape is something you would have thought would have been the first thing he would have tried when he was sucking last year.

Talk is cheap. Show me. Do something on the ice. Please.

Even if he does, how much do you 'buy in'? Will he keep it up? Will he stay motivated/committed? I think giving him any kind of long term deal is a very scary proposition.

I like the guy, his 'A' game is exactly what we need, but even if he brings it this year, how confident are you that you're going to get it every year of a new deal?

So you've got the two most frustrating players on the team (Berglund and Stew) in a contract year. Both are RFA's after this season and it will be interesting to see if they're going to play up to their potential. Berglund keeps showing flashes, as does Stewart. Even if they both put together great season, I'm still not sure if I will be convinced until they do it in a non-contract year.

I do kind of like the fact that Stewart and Berglund are both players who have underachieved and are both in contract years. If they are EVER going to be able to step up their game, this is the year it should happen.

I think everyone is forgetting how well Bergie played last year. There weren't a lot of goals, but Chaser even said that some opposing teams singled him out as 'the hardest guy to play against' and even Kerbs who had been a life long Bergie hater at one point (on a post game show) said he had been their BEST forward for the last month.

It's true that he hasn't produced the points many though he might, but he was easily one of our best players last year.
