GM Ken Holland says Red Wings might not make playoffs this year
Quote: "There's the possibility that we might not make the playoffs this year," the Wings general manager said Wednesday at the Detroit Sportscasters Association luncheon at Hockeytown Cafe. "But nobody can run and hide from you any longer in this league. You can't stockpile players. You're constantly tweaking. You're constantly changing. And that's why all 16 teams that make the playoffs now can win the Stanley Cup."
It's only been ONE game. Did we really make them take off their rose-colored glasses and see the world as it really is? And didn't we get done in the last 5-7 years stockpiling and loading up talent to put out there? Truth is, the blinders they wore were so thick that they didn't think they'd ever fall off and didn't prepare for it. A team that doesn't prepare for the future deserves what they got, and I'm glad we gave that to them last night in spades.
But for your own GM to already give up on his team after the first game....that's just....

I would guess so, as well. I never had a hatred for Cole. If I recall, Reel just didn't feel like Cole would live up to the hype as a first round draft pick. Not sure if I would classify it as hatred or not, but I do remember him saying that one time.
