If last night was any indication, this team could win 40 this year and steamroll through the playoffs. Let's just avoid the injury bug.
Discuss the St. Louis Blues, the NHL, or whatever.

That was a dumb thing for Holland to say. Unless he's trying to light a fire under his team's ass and set them out to prove him wrong. Still... odd thing to say after one game.Oaklandblue wrote:It just keeps getting better and better. From the LGW Forum:
GM Ken Holland says Red Wings might not make playoffs this year
Quote: "There's the possibility that we might not make the playoffs this year," the Wings general manager said Wednesday at the Detroit Sportscasters Association luncheon at Hockeytown Cafe. "But nobody can run and hide from you any longer in this league. You can't stockpile players. You're constantly tweaking. You're constantly changing. And that's why all 16 teams that make the playoffs now can win the Stanley Cup."
It's only been ONE game. Did we really make them take off their rose-colored glasses and see the world as it really is? And didn't we get done in the last 5-7 years stockpiling and loading up talent to put out there? Truth is, the blinders they wore were so thick that they didn't think they'd ever fall off and didn't prepare for it. A team that doesn't prepare for the future deserves what they got, and I'm glad we gave that to them last night in spades.
But for your own GM to already give up on his team after the first game....that's just....
I honestly didn't look at the date of the original post of it, just read it and it seemed the most popular atm on LGW. If that's the case, to me, that's even worse. They're paying you to run the team and you're essentially saying 'It can't be done' and you're GM'ing the Red Wings of all teams?Kreegz2 wrote:If i remember correctly, he said that before the season even started.
I would guess so, as well. I never had a hatred for Cole. If I recall, Reel just didn't feel like Cole would live up to the hype as a first round draft pick. Not sure if I would classify it as hatred or not, but I do remember him saying that one time.glen a richter wrote:Refresh my memory, DMiles, because it's been a long time... was it you or Reel who had an irrational hatred for Ian Cole? Ummm... he said that Wednesday before a single NHL game was played this season. So the one game did not make him say that.Oaklandblue wrote:It just keeps getting better and better. From the LGW Forum:

Thank you for that. I am super happy we won 6-0 and beat those cocks. But for those not at the game there was quite a few things that I am sure Hitch was working on. Also if you weren't at the game I am just saying our 4th line was superb. They looked like they had been playing together for months. Schwartz also played an amazing game. I know everyone is excited about Tank (as they should be) but Schwartz didn't do anything flashy and with the exception of being out of position once on his second shift he was perfect.ViPeRx007 wrote:All of that kind of goes both ways though. I mean, this was just one game for the Blues as well. It was a very good one game, but still. They need to keep the pedal down and not get too comfortable.
I was thinking that, I believe his ire was rooted in the fact that Cole went to Notre Dame. For whatever that means, I think between him, Pie and Shatty, the team is set as the best defense in the league, looking ahead. Those are the core three they need to keep together long term.dmiles2186 wrote:I would guess so, as well. I never had a hatred for Cole.
