AND we are still ahead of the Wings in the standings.
Only by a slim 3 points now.

Got stuck at work late last night, sorry flashchat friends

Anyway watched the game early this morning, not saying we would have won without the bad call but that call sealed our fate for sure.

What the hell is up with the Refs this year this isn't college hockey.

I was just complaining about how I miss hard open ice hits like back in the day, but if the Refs are going to call bullshit calls I say lets throw some tags on the pants and play flag hockey. And don't get me started on the BS interference calls and I know we are not the only ones feeling pain here.

haha, Shanahan forgot to apply the Red Wing multiplier to this one. The league actually went as far as to clear the game misconduct from Backes' record.

if the league wanted to make right, they would have this game re-played from the point of the call. Still 3-3, 5 on 5, clean hit, play on boys.

I keep seeing tweets about Kent Huskins being fine. I mean, good for him. But, was there really that much to worry about? Last time I checked, people don't get concussions from hits to chest.

Seems even a number of Wings fans think the call was bullshit. That's when you know it's for real, Blues fans and Wings fans agreeing on something. The league needs to take action against Walsh and Lee.

I wasn't able to watch the game because I can't get NHL Network games on Gamecenter. All I knew last night was that the blues gave up 3 in the third and lost, which pissed me off. This morning I woke up and read about the hit and now I am even more pissed off, but not at the Blues anymore like I was last night. They just have to put it behind them and keep moving forward. Hopefully we will get some karmic justice from the hockey gods later in the season when we might really need it.

Has the league said anything about that garbage last night?

They said Backes will not face a disciplinary hearing and they cleared the game misconduct from his record. I haven't seen an actual statement (and doubt we ever see one). But, clearing the misconduct speaks for itself. That's an admission that it was a bad call.

You know what the best part about that is? The league, in not so many words, is saying the outcome of that game was tainted.

So, yes...in the standings, we lost the game. But did we REALLY? The league is saying the call on Backes was horrible, therefore the Wings shouldn't have gotten the PP and wouldn't have gotten that game winning goal on that PP late in the 3rd.

(Frank) Detroit, (Frank) the homer calls they get at the Joe and (Frank) that game.
If that is what Detroit needs to go their way to beat us in their own building...then they won't be winning many against us.
You gotta love Kerber..."a perfect example of getting Winged at the Joe." Awesome.

We've only played 7 games. If we gain 3 pts on them every 7 games, we'll finish about 21 pts. ahead of them.

ah ok
So 2 more games against the Wings, or is it 4 more?

3 more I believe. We play the Wings and Hawks 5 times this season, and the jackets and preds 4 times. We play them again on Thursday at 14th and Clark.

The Blues played one more game than Detoilet, so after tonight it could be just 1.

The best that we can hope for is that they take 60 seconds to review a call that will result in an ejection. Get the call right. NHL games are 2 hours long, an extra 2 minutes isn't going to hurt if they get the call right.

I hate losing to the Wings, but I'd prefer it to be fair and square. Hopefully this doesn't end up deciding a seeding/home advantage type situation late in the season. This was essentially our version of the Seahawks-Packers from earlier this year, except we're dealing with tried and true NHL refs, not replacements.

Speaking of refs, I mentioned this in flashchat last night: NHL...fixing the franking refs' microphones. It's embarrassing. If you aren't going to do that, pipe in the PA announcer's mic announcing the call.

Columbus is doing a nice job of handling Detroit tonight. Good redemption for them to lose to a real shit team as bad karma for what happened last night. A good start anyway. Maybe they'll lose their next 20.
