Small on the Richter scale but trading a 34 year old d-man for a 22 year old forward is at least notable. Not sure anything will come of it.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- The Nashville Predators have acquired defenseman Scott Ford from the St. Louis Blues in exchange for forward Jani Lajunen.

The Predators said Tuesday that Ford will report to their American Hockey League affiliate in Milwaukee.

The 33-year-old Ford has 15 goals, 41 assists and 650 penalty minutes in 423 career AHL games since 2004. Lajunen, 22, had one goal and four assists with Milwaukee this season

An update from St. Louis Game Time. Apparently the Blues got 3 prospects for Ford.

The Blues today acquired three prospects from Nashville, and sent defenseman and Peoria captain Scott Ford to the Predators.

The primary player acquired by the Blues is Finnish prospect center Janne Lajunen. Lajunen, drafted 201st overall by Nashville in 2008, is an offensively skilled center with good skating skills and hockey sense. He's a native of the Helsinki suburb of Espoo, and adds to the Blues' growing stable of Finnish prospects.

With the demotion of Jeff Woywitka to Peoria, the handwriting was on the wall for the veteran Ford. He had been a fixture in the press box over the last half-dozen games, and will return to Milwaukee, where he gave the Rivermen fits as a premier defenseman for the Admirals for the last several seasons.

The Blues also acquired Hungarian goaltender Zoltan Hetenyi and French-Canadian prospect winger Andre Bouvet-Morrissette in today's deal. Bouvet-Morissette was loaned to Evansville, while Hetenyi was loaned out to the Orlando Solar Bears due to a goaltending logjam in Evansville.

Ok, I don't get it. What makes Scott Ford that special to be traded for that much? His stats are really on the low end and he's 33. Did we fleece Nashville or is there something here I'm totally missing?

He was stuffed with a combination of half steroids, half cocaine.. Just a simple drug deal, NHL style.
