T.J. Oshie’s always been a bit of a rock star during his NHL career. Allegedly, that behavior extends to his canine friends – because what’s more rock star than trashing a penthouse, right?

The ownership group for Buckingham Apartments is suing the St. Louis Blues star, claiming that Oshie’s dogs did $11,026.92 in damages to the penthouse apartment, and specifically the penthouse patio area where Oshie allegedly kept his dogs.

From Courthouse News Services:

"Defendant's unit is commonly referred to as a 'penthouse,' which is located on the top of the building and has an outdoor patio which opens off of the main living area through four (4) large Kolbe custom made window/door units, giving a panoramic view of the City of St. Louis skyline," the complaint states.

"Defendant, during the lease term, maintained two dogs which he customarily kept locked out onto the patio. During defendant's tenancy, said dogs scratched and/or chewed on the custom screens, causing them to suffer irreparable damage necessitating the need for their replacement."

So, in other words, they acted like dogs.

Furthermore:

"Under the terms of the lease, defendant was fully responsible and liable for any and all injury done to the apartment unit or building and in the event the defendant did not leave the apartment in the same condition in which it was received, plaintiff is entitled to recover all of its damages plus fifteen percent (15 percent) overhead to put the lease premises back to its original condition, minus reasonable wear and tear," the complaint states.

Couldn’t he just call in Blues Official Dog Whisperer David Backes to calm the pooches down?

This would be the strangest dog-related T.J. Oshie story in St. Louis history, were it not for the odd trend three years ago when upwards of 30 people named their dogs “Oshie” in tribute to him.

Why does the apartment complex have to sue him to get the money? Do leases on fancy apartments work differently than the ones I've always rented from? Every time I've left a place and damaged the apartment if there wasn't a security deposit or if it was more than the security deposit then they just sent me a bill. No need to get the courts involved. Unless maybe the sent him a bill and he refused to pay it and now they are suing? I dunno, I wish I had 10k worth of screens.

Since when do rescue dogs chew anything up? Aren't they trained against that?

Wrong kind of rescue dog. These are dogs that have been rescued vice dogs that rescue people.

$11k for screens?
Yeah...I'm crying foul on that one.
Either the owner is overvaluing his screens, or the dogs did damage to way more than just the screens....or...I guess there could have been 100 screens that they damaged.

When I read the title, I thought he threw a couch off of the balcony of a hotel. Or damaged a magazine that he hadn't paid for yet.

It is the kind of windows. Kolbe brand window/door/screen stuff is known for being ridiculously expensive. And apparently this penthouse has "custom Kolbe" crap which makes it more expensive. It is still ridiculous.

Ah! Thank you for clearing that up. I was imagining dogs with vests being roped down from helicopters to save people on mountain tops and such. Anyone that rescues dogs from being killed and keeps them as their own is a good guy (or girl) in my book. Sexist not I.

I'm surprised that with this getting as much press as it has been that there isn't one single picture of these 'custom made' screens or ones that 'resemble' the type that they installed at Oshie's pad. Them suing him sounds insane (If I was Oshie, 11k, I'd just write them a check and call it even, since anyone with dogs knows how dogs are), unless those screens aren't as much as they're trying to get out of him. Or unless those screens were already banged up to begin with.

If the screens were any good in the first place, they would have been able to withstand dogs jumping and scratching at them. Obviously they're actually pieces of overrated garbage and therefore not worth $11,000.
