Yeah...hopefully they traded away enough to keep them from competing this year, but they are going to be much better very quickly.
Eh I don't know. Gaborik is a lightning rod, sure, but he's also streaky and, IMO, a very high-risk acquisition. Carter didn't help them and he's easily at or above the caliber of Gaborik, AND Carter had Nash with him.
I'll give the BJ's credit though

Dude has scored 40+ in 3 of his last five seasons ( 3 of his last 4 full seasons).
In one of those seasons that he didn't net 40+ he played only 17 games but still netted 13 goals.
In the two yeas preceding this run he netted 30 goals in 48 games in 06-07 and 38 goals in 65 games the season before that.
Dude is light years better offensively then any player on our roster.
Oh, and he's still only 31.
Yeah, having a bad year this year...but that whole roster was.

I would have taken Gaborik in a second. He is light years better than any forward on this team, streaky or not. This team does not have a single topline forward. We have guys that play on the top line, we do not have an elite scorer on this team. Tank may become one, but right now we could certainly use one.
