Anyone have a link to John Kelly's call for Steen's game winning goal?
The Blues stupidly cut the call short on their website and missed the "good night, good bye, game over" part....which was cool.

I saw this on Twitter, so I can't take credit, but I also have seen people calling it the CPR line, which I like quite a bit.

This is what Fox Sports Prime Ticket did last night: split screen w/ the Clippers/Grizzlies on one half and Kings/Blues on the other. I'm pretty sure there would have been a full scale riot from LGBers if FSMW did this with the Cardinals and Blues.

What an awful idea.

Steen's game winner reminds me of Paslawski's goal in the Monday Night Miracle game.

And as I am typing this, Kelly says that exact same thing on KFNS.

If you continue to fail to capitalize on the chances we whiffed on last night, it will come back to haunt you.

There were so many swing and misses at free pucks in front of LA's net last night that I thought David Freese was out there.
In my opinion, that's the story of the game there, not the goal in the final 30 seconds. That game could EASILY have been 3-0 or even 4-0 instead of 1-0 going into that final minute. So which is the bigger contributing factor- our inability to finsh, or the Kings' ability to clog the lanes and block shots? Likely a combination of both.

The bigger question- which of those factors will have a stronger influence on the rest of series?

Quick had some really nice saves and like 4 nasty poke checks, but the post was his best friend last night. This game could have been over in the first if we wouldn't have missed some great EN chances and dented the post a few thousand times.

Now David Perron...... Doing the Sean Avery :okman: dude makes a good pest, Knocking some heads around :okman: , but still not holding onto the puck to pass of a chance but instead shooting right into quick.

There was a good chance with him and Osh in on a 2 on 1 Osh was tied up for a sec so instead of holding he shoots right away just as Osh gets away and into a great position.

Still can't get over that our 4th line was awesome Crack and Reaver busting some heads I'm going to start referring to them as Portman and Reed.

What a game! Just destroyed them for most of the game. Last year, Hitchcock said that the difference between the Blues and Kings was that when they got hot they just skated right through everybody. I think we're playing at that level now (and the Kings aren't).

That late goal was soul crushing, but thankfully we got it in OT. Losing that game in OT would have been devastating.

The number of blown chances concerns me, for sure. But I can't help but compare this series to last year's, and what I find encouraging is how many legitimate chances we got on Quick. I remember last year he more or less just hung out, deflected an outside shot here or there and coasted to the series victory. We weren't settling for perimeter shots all night and I thought they had more chances in the slot and around the goal crease than usual. This year's team had trouble with that, but as the game wore on, the more impressed I was with the game plan. The FSMW guys kept saying how much last night's game reminded them of the 2011-2012 regular season Blues and I agree. We'd have sustained pressure, they'd clear it out, our guys would pick it up and go right back on the attack.

And seriously, that 4th line...I mentioned it in flashchat, but we have a legit 4th line now. Not just 3 defensive forwards mashed together, but a unit that knows where the others are at all times, hammers the crap out of everything in sight, and absolutely electrifies the team and the building when they're on the ice. The Kings had a similar youth-filled 4th line last year and I couldn't be more excited about this group.

Steen was the #1 star for sure, but man, Schwartz was everywhere last night. This kid just keeps impressing me.

This is a headline on the Chicago Tribune's Website:

Blues net 1st playoff win since 2001

WTF!?!? They clarify that it's the first OT playoff win for us since 2001, but still. Chicago sucks.

Elliott had to make a few very tough saves...including a sure goal that he got a piece of with his glove while on the ice...and the puck then went off the post.

I don't think it was a soft goal. It looked to be tipped, and it was tucked upper corner under the bar. That shot beats almost every goalie in that situation.

I have zero issues with the way this team played in regulation. Well, maybe they could have hit the net a few more times as an awful lot of their shots went wide. But if they play like that again, surely they net at least a few goals.
Elliott had a .966 save percentage. That's not good enough?
I wasn't knocking Elliott's play. I was defending the goal against, saying it wasn't soft.

Great game by the Blues, but we really have got to learn to put away those open nets. Dominated 95% of the game and almost lost.

Shattenkirk had a huge mental lapse on that double major - all he had to do was skate close to the back of the net, like any one of the d-men would have done every other time, and there's no play.

The tying goal was NOT a softie, but a shit play by jackman. He went to block a shot in the most awkward, stupid way possible, it went off his shin pad and over Elliott, who was in the butterfly and just couldn't reach up.

Yes, I have an issue with a goalie not playing the post on an obvious shot at the end of a one-goal game. It was soft. Period.

It was an OUTSTANDING win for the Blues. and regardless of any critisism, a win is a win. a TOUGH chess match the entire game by Hitch and Scroodge...

Some thoughts though from section 101 ( where we were last night)...I dont know who does the counting for attendence (sarcasticly said), but with the "official" count around 17500, I couldn't see an empty seat in the house, yet earlier this year there were whole rows empty and it was said to be a sell out...

The place was ROCKEN , couldn't hear yourself think, and the play was some of the best hockey I've seen in 20 years!!! with all due respect to those who are nitpicking the play last night, it was an all around good game, with both Elliot and Quick standing on their heads for the most part, no glaring let downs by any player, and IMHO we didn't have a fourth line tonight...we had another top line...those three played lights out...JMHO

The goal against Ells was indeed tipped by Jackman, and knuckled right over Ells shoulder for the top shelf goal. No defense for that IMHO. As far as Steeners OT goal, all I could say was WOW!!!!!!!!...After LA scored with like 31 seconds left, I thought is was going to be a riot in the stands...then along came Steener...

On a side note--- for those that smoke, if your going to the game Thursday, all I can tell you is get some nicorette or something...the smoking police were out in force, and actually had a "yellow" line outside and hearded us smokers like cattle on the other side of it LOLOL.....

LETS GO BLUESSSSSSS!!!!!

The puck didn't even beat him by the post. It got deflected by Jackman to the top corner, over Elliott's shoulder. I don't see how that was soft.

God I love playoff hockey.

Thoroughly outplayed these guys for the majority of the game, and should've beaten them handidly as opposed to clawing it out in OT but a W is a W is a W.

Night and day compared to last year where I don't even know if we ever had the lead at any point. Extremely encouraging for the rest of the series.
