Also, a decent article about the Stewart Brothers path to the NHL.

I think he's gonna get around $4 mil. Pietro gets about $5 mil and Paajarvi and Allen combine for around $3 mil leaving us near the cap. Halak or Elliott have to be on the move.

This explains everything about Chris Stewart; we signed the wrong one.

Anthony stewart is a UFA and a cheap one at that. Would be interesting to see both playing here they might push each other. Hell invite the guy to camp and see if it helps our stewart

More moves HAVE to be coming. I don't know how Army is going to retain all these guys and get us under the cap.

I swear to God if we lose Allen or Pietrangelo...

If we lose Allen who will obviously be the cheapest of the bunch, then Armstrong needs to be run the hell out of town. That would be a travesty. if I'm not misaken, both Halak and Elliott are in their final contract year, so someone (Pie) needs to be accommodating to having his contract structured in such a way that they stay under the cap this year and he gets rewarded for it next year when Halak and Ells are both off the books and our 1 and 2 netminders are Allen (cheapish) and Binnington (very cheap).

I don't think you can get creative with the cap numbers. The cap hit is an average of your salary, isn't it?

I do believe that is still the case.

Of those two years, how much time will be spent laboring back to the bench after a useless shift?

If I got paid 4.1 mil for putting in 100% effort 20% of the time and 50% effort the rest, I'd be a happy camper.

Overpaid. How much worse could we have done in arbitration? Bobby Ryan (he of 4 30-goal seasons) makes just over $5M per. We're paying a guy of the same age $4.15M per when he's scored 20 goals ONCE? The front office has truly painted themselves into a corner.

reminds me of a Yogi Berra-ism

a tad more than I thought he would get, but this was before David Clarkson got $7 million per in perpetuity

if a 1 year deal is a "prove it" and a multi year deal is a commitment, what is a 2 year deal?

What the hell? 4 million? How the hell are we going to sign Pietrangelo, somethings got to give.

In the spirit of Yogi'isms... they came to a fork in the road and they took it. Where they took it I have no idea, but they took it. We'll see what happens next.

A commitment?

Seriously though, I think it's exactly how it looks, somewhere in between prove yourself and a total commitment. 4 mil is about what I expected. If he gives 100%, 100% of the time, it'll be a bargain. If he's like last season, it'll be an ok deal. If he's like the season before last, aye dios mio.

If he gives 100%, 100% of the time, I'll be wondering which alien species abducted him and what they did with the real Chris Stewart.
